I've not had chance to read it.

I would expect more than one date after traveling all that way.

I've known about this for quite a while now - but not that it had actually been confirmed. eek

I've asked for more details about John's appearance in Hobart.

Well, Foxxtralia or not, I can't make this. But last weekend while listening to "21st Century" my wife reiterated [and I concur] that we should shoulder whatever debt necessary to see Foxx perform a show. And sooner than later. I'm holding out for more Maths work, personally, but it's been three years now. That thread's probably dormant.

When I showed this info to my wife, she responded "South Australia????? That’s even more unobtainable than Europe! C’mon John, give us something a little better than that….." She just sent me another email.

"Plus I want more than a one hour ambient piano concert…..bring on the Maths!"

The lady has a point.

So this is an exhibition of his works from 13 July through to 5 August 2016? Looks like something to view as opposed any live component right? Is he going to be there all that time (or any of that time?)?

Please ship the material to Japan afterwards!

It seems that John will also be appearing at the Museum of Old and New Art (MONA) in Hobart on Friday the 29th of July 2016.

http://shop.mona.net.au/single/SelectSeating.aspx?p=16072

The previous day (Thursday the 28th of July 2016) there will be a screening of some Quiet Man films which are further described as a series of art-house films produced by John Foxx, screened in Cinemona, to coincide with The Quiet Man: A Night with John Foxx at Mona on Friday 29 July. Titles include Tiny Colour Movies and Cathedral Oceans, among others.

I don't know - at this stage - what are also going to be included...

Hi Rob thanks for the info.

Is John going to be appearing live anywhere else in Australia outside of Adelaide and Hobart?

I might need to try and get tickets for the Hobart event.

I honestly don't know... crazy

I will post more information as soon as I get it...

I'm sure that I won't be alone in wanting to hear all about it should you be able to get to one of the events.

to think about overnight.

I have booked my cheap flight, hotel and tickets to Hobart.

I am hanging out to see, listen and hopefully meet John Foxx again at this more intimate event than the 2008 concert in Sydney. smile

Just back in Sydney after a very enjoyable evening with John Foxx at the MONA museum in Hobart, Australia.

The first half was an interview with John ranging from his days at art school, to forming Ultravox and the first 3 albums and the famous producers they had, leaving and becoming a solo artist, retiring from music to his return and up to his current music.
He than had a break and came out for an ambient piano session that had some small treatments to create a bigger than just piano soundstage.

John was nice enough to come out and have a chat after the show. he was very surprised that the vinyl revival was going so strong as he new about the Ultravox and Cathedral Oceans releases coming up on vinyl. Interesting John calls his Cathedral Oceans music as architectural ambient music.

below is a couple of photos of John sitting down for the interview and just after he finished the ambient piano performance. and a short youtube clip to give you a idea of the ambient music he was playing ( I hope John does not mind )

Overall a fantastic evening to gain quite a bit of insight on the quiet man and his music and to meet him again.

I love these kind of panel discussions. I impetuously flew to Chicago in 2014 to see Bryan Ferry give a similar talk/interview at the museum that was hosting "David Bowie Is" a few weeks later and it was a real treat, though no music was played there.
