No, not at all,
Rob. I just assumed, whether right or wrong, that in order to hear such details in the tracks, concentrated listening through headphones would provide that, as opposed to 'open air' sound through speakers. I don't know anyone involved in the industry, so I don't really know what processes are involved (I enjoyed the old EV article covering the remastering of
Spies ), if there is a standard, as far as attention to these sorts of details are concerned. Although, I expect there has to be some sort of compromise made between trying to retain the original tracks in their entirety and having to edit (e.g. fade-outs) to help eliminate the likes of tape hiss, as well as the obvious filtering and equalising tools that are also used.
Anyway, I'm certainly looking forward to the box-set, once it's released.
