I can send you a bigger scan of it if you like, but you still won't figure it out!!

I guess it's just abstract metal... since it was for "Drive" I always thouhgt that perhaps it could have been a close-up of a car part... possibly a mirrored image of a slightly squashed exhaust pipe... maybe!!

Ha! Thanks, Alex. I've been enjoying your site. Your reviews of the concerts and releases have been fun reading. Just finished the one about the "Tiny Colour Movies" show ... I wish i had been there! seems like it was an ideal venue.

You're right. It does look like a close-up of a car part. Something to do with driving.

Much cheaper than some of the other places selling it - get in there if you want it!

Well worth a tenner.

I didn't think it was going to stay steady at £10.00 for long - it\'s currently at £21.44 with four days still to go. It'll be interesting to see what it finally goes for.

Shall we hazard a guess on what the EP will sell for?

My guess is £50

No prizes though for the winner

Something bizarre just happened on E-bay. A seller put up 3 BRAND NEW Drive EPs with a 'Buy It Now' price of £3.99 per copy!!!!!!! confused

I quickly bought one, and then came here to let you know about the other two. Just before posting (this was literally 1 minute after buying my copy) I went back to check and the other two had already gone! frown

Can't believe the seller did not research this better before selling.

Ebay attracts a lot of sellers who have bulk supplys of items, so theres every chance its as real as an individual item.

It's obvious what with this being Artful's own Ebay name that they have found a box of these somewhere!

Great news for everyone on here that didn't have a copy.

Hopefully they will find a box of the original Exotour CD's too....but I doubt that, there were only 500 (individually numbered) copies of those, is that right?

Yes they were in card sleeves with their individual number printed on the back. I have one numbered, and another with no numbers at all. So they may of made some extra copys afterall, either that or mine missed the printer.

I've got a 5(?)* track card edition, but missed out on the album length edition, so would love to see some copies turn up on ebay!

(*4-5 track edition...can't remember how many are on it)

Now these ARE rare - can't say I've ever seen one on ebay, though there probably have been some.

Although I've got the 2003 Exotour double CD, I'd still like one of the originals - for the collection and to have the cover artwork in original format!

I wish they'd kept the same sleeve design for that digipack version...

According to Wikipedia, my EP isn’t as rare as the album length edition:

Exotour 97 (1000-copy numbered edition EP from the 1997 UK tour, released 10 October 1997)

Subterranean Omnidelic Exotour (500-copy numbered edition album from the rehearsals of the 1998 UK tour, released 15 April 1998)

Yeah I wished they'd kept the original Foxx art too on the Edsel edition.

Hes going for the quick sell.

Its either someone being greedy, or someone that dont really known the Foxx market for rarities. Oddly, it did seem more rare before this recent ebay activity.

Ordered mine on Tuesday, arrived first thing yesterday! Yowsa!

A bit silly to 'review' a CD almost half a decade after everyone else in the known world seems to have a copy, but just to say that of the previously unheard tracks, 'Your Shadow' was the immediate favourite. smile

Garry

PS - As I wasn't in the UK when it was released can anyone tell me; was the radio edit ever played on the radio?

"Your Shadow" is by far my favourite too!

I don't listen to the radio so I can't answer your question!

However I do believe at the time, Radio One played She Robot in full...

For what its worth, I think this EP is a real gem.

My own favourite is Underwater Dream Sex which I consider to be among John's very best tracks. Top Five vote for Luminaire...

Those 3 b-sides are all real gems, and essential listening for all fans of John's work - they somehow manage to connect to all aspects of his music and influences.

At the time I thought those b-sides were generally better than half of the album tracks on C&B.

Yeah! How did Ray 1/Ray 2 get on the album, but not any of those?

Mind you, it was released after the album so perhaps they're not all from the C&B recording sessions

I talked with John about this, the first time I met him. My memory is a bit hazy now but I think he said he recorded the new tracks after Crash & Burn.

But don't quote me on that!

I also remember him saying he was really pleased with it as "they had put it together while I was away" - or something to that effect.

I remember the hot discussion of releasing a single CD after Crash And Burn was released. Many fans wanted to have a single , perhaps with bonus tracks included. So, I assume John had heard the wishes of his fans and the result was the Drive EP; first availlable on the Crash And Burn Tour.

I like this CD a lot , music and cover art wise, and for my opinion John should do the same from time to time. It is nice to have singles with bonus tracks - as in tradition of the 7"inch vinyl's b-sides.

Even though singles, as a marketing tool, aren't what they used to be, I do think that it's a shame for so few to be released, particularly by older artists.

There were several fantastic tracks on From trash that could easily have been a single – Friendly Fire or Impossible would have got my vote! I always thought there was a missed opportunity there... but maybe it just wasn't financially viable.

But I agree Andreas, it's nice to have the odd single or EP release to compliment the albums and give home to new b-side material...

Something else that fascinates me about this EP is the 'hidden track' between Making MOvies and Your Shadow.

Well, not hidden, but you know what I mean. That 1'40" piece at the end of Making Movies.

What do people think about that?

And another obsevration is that, ironically, I think "Drive' is the weakest track on it...

Yeah it's really nice and somewhat unexpected. I always wondered why he had done this.. was it perhaps part of a longer version or a link to another track that never got completed? Who knows!
