Sorry, I meant Sunset Rising in my list a couple of pages back, not Infinite In All Directions. In case anyone was wondering ...

I mean for instance I'm a big fan of some of JF's b-sides,like 20th Centuary,Mr.No,City of lights,Swimmer(1+2,but the more upbeat one,hey! it's late!! smile )
Camera for me is the first track form it's album to click with me as I'd been up over 24hours when I heard it,was staying with a friend for the gig, went into London for the pre-meet,went to the gig,met both John and Louis and also got the cd literaly hot off the press, they were late getting to the gig as they were being pressed that day!! then went to Slimelght! till 7am smile
Finaly put the cd on around 10am and Camera was just so beautifull!!,we both fell asleep! laugh

Ray 1/Ray 2
I think Den and Lou had been tapping Billy Joel's phoneline
A faux futurist "We didn't start the fire"
But the exception that proves the rule Even Mr Foxx can only a 99.9 % brilliance ratio

I've also been looking at this agin, and I think the best way is to decide your own 'rules' for the compilation first.
A design strategy if you like.

I've just burned a 2x CD pack for a friend in answer to that eternal "who???" question eek

It's called just that "John Foxx - Who?" and contains very strictly ONE TRACK from EACH album in chronological order.
Doesn't necessarily 'flow' and could be improved by shuffling the songs about, but that wasn't the object of the exercise.
Includes Ultravox, Nation 12 and a couple of examples of remixxes from a couple of years back. 30 in all.
It was hard to be so disciplined, but I rather fancied myself in that 'Metamatic' minimalist this-is-the model-i-am-using role...

LOL .. nice one Martin .. know what you mean about 'being disciplined'..actually the one I did had a lot of Foxx/Gordon stuff on it as opposed to solo work..probably me just getting away from this TOTAL METAMATIC moment ..

In light of news from Steve Malins that there is to be a new 'Best Of' out next year, this thread probably has more life in it yet!

I hope the new compilation is more along the lines of 'Assembly' than 'Modern Art'.

right on! .. Assembly was a real boon for me when it came out as I'd 'missed' a lot of stuff in the 80s ..wonder if the new one will be based on more 90s Foxx/Gordon stuff? "John & Louis' Greatest Hits"??????
