Hi
There as been a lot of discussion on Johns Artwork and I thought it'd interesting which is forum members favourite single and album covers?
For me the sinlge is Burning car. The cover compliments the song with John standing on the front in a sort of hazy smokefilled background and two pictures of burning cars on the back.

For the best album cover is Pleasures of electricity. Dark and mystical with the suit in front of the door with the light where the head should be. To me, it says what you can expect hear on the inside.
Also Modern Art compliation is a well produced cover. It has a nice Electronic feel to it. cool

To the other extreme the worst cover is From Trash. My opinion only. This doesn't move me at all.

Hi Robert

I agree with you there - I'd love to see some updated photo's.

I do love the 'Modern Art' cover though. And there's a really tasty photo (in my girly, swooning opinion!) shocked when you open the cd case on 'The Golden Section' - it's on the back of the booklet!

The first ones are the best ones to my mind. Metamatic, Underpass, No-one Driving (esp the dbl-pack) and Burning Car. After that it all went a bit downhill for me - I have always loathed the Miles Away cover.

I also really like the old 'Metal Beat' label - that strong font against the slightly bleached b/w building always looked very industrial and cool.

My own favourites are the Double single packs from TGS and IMW.
I've always loved that collage/ cut and paste type thing and the gatefolds of Endlessly/Stars on Fire etc work well.

Otherwise, the cover for Translucence/Drift Music is one of his best pieces.

Hi Martin - My favourite artwork too was the Double single packs from TGS and IMW periods.

I also have to mention the Cathedral Oceans cover art which no one seems to have!

I miss the Metal Beat label too!

I was going to mention the CO material.
John's best music and some beautiful images, in the book and the DVD.

But COIII is totally ruined by the barcode! confused

Bit of a schoolboy error there...

Not a fan of "Dancing Like a Gun" and both "Shifting City" and "Translucence/Drift Music" fail to speak to me visually, the latter just looks messy and vague to me.

Favourite single sleeve would probably be "Miles Away" - the empty suit also works really well sat at its various locations in the video. Album sleeve a toss-up between "The Pleasures of Electricity", "The Golden Section" and "From Trash".
