This is a difficult one. I honestly cannot recall which one was the first but one of the very earliest ones would be The Moody Blues at MSG.

When she was back into town before returning to college, my older sister dragged her Metamatic-obsessed punkette-wannabe baby sis (that would be me) to see the Grateful Dead at the now-defunct Uptown in Chicago on 20 August 1980. eek But it was a great show and I still retain a fondness for some Dead material, so don't start with me . . . wink

Incidentally, that concert took place the day after she took our mom and me to see David Bowie in "The Elephant Man" at the Blackstone. The ticket for the Dead was $11.00 US, and Bowie in a diaper was $16.00 (I kept them both in a scrapbook – sad). Quite an eventful week!

Was your sister my roommate? wink smile I successfully avoided going to any Dead shows despite living with the biggest DeadHead going. I did get dragged to the movie though.

Easy one: Elvis Costello & the Attractions, Lancaster University September 1982.
I was a wide eyed country boy just starting uni in the big outside world (well, Lancaster). Saw quite a few biggies there in the same year .. U2, Toyah, Echo & Bunnymen, Japan ... smile

I have only been to two concerts (and counting). First concert I went to was back in 2004 to see the Eagles (missed out on school that day laugh ) and the second concert was to see John Foxx & Louis Gordon in 2008. cool

The first concert I had seen was Jethro Tull - I think it was 1976 or77. My brother took me to that gig and the second one too - Uriah Heep.

Then , the third concert we went together was Ultravox in 1978 !!! But this time I took him with me.... wink
