I know this is entirely hypothetical, but bear with me for the fun of it...
Let's assume, just for a moment, that you could influence what John Foxx did next. What is missing? What would you like to see?
Another album with Benge? Another album with Louis Gordon? A twelve inch extended version of The Hidden Man on orange vinyl??
My personal response would be an album of significantly 'long' pieces. When I listen to the Harold Budd collaborations, or Cathedral Oceans and now Evidence Of Time Travel I can't help but wonder what, for example, an album of three 20-minute pieces would sound like. Or two sides of a vinyl album that comprised just one long track each?
John has always composed music for set pieces and still images in films, specialising in the short 'popular and accessible' format of the 3- 4 minute composition.
How about something that ran for half an hour...?

When I met and spoke to Steve (Malins) and John in Sydney in May 2008, I expressed my personal gratitude for the interview discs that have been previously released, where John talks about the initial history of the band, the recording of Metamatic and subsequent recording partnerships, etc ... I would have liked to have seen further interview discs released to include questions and answers regarding 'behind the scenes' history of The Garden, The Golden Section and In Mysterious Ways. If there is/was any consideration to continue these interview sessions, perhaps the fanbase could get involved by contributing questions for inclusion.
I appreciate this may have limited appeal to some fans, even if the discs were nicely packaged in some original Foxx artwork, but as always, if you don't ask ...
Cheers, Martin.
Regards,
Rod.

There's a few things I'd like if it was possible, here's one... While we have recent definitive new master of Metamatic, I would quite like a set of intrumental musical pieces based on each song's melodies, but expanded so the time frame is longer, at least 10 minutes per track. It wouldn't be a 'remix' album but rather a parallel universe edition.it might have to be a double album or released in volumes with about 3 or 4 songs/tracks per volumes to allow each to be at least 10 minutes long.what would it sound like? Sparse, cinematic, electronic, analogue, a dissolving dream version of Metamatic.

Good suggestions and ideas, both Be as honest, unrealistic and self-indulgent as you like. It ain't gonna happen but it's a fun Thought Experiment. This same thread is running on Facebook at Lord Foxx of Chorley, where (not surprisingly) people are dreaming of a reunion with original members of that band he was in... and suggesting other bands that might cover various tracks

Ultravox reunion Album & tour so that we could see what a 4th Foxxvox album would have been like.
New collaboration with Louis Gordon
What ever happened to the Smoke Fairies collaboration?

The final part of the Trilogy.
Systems of Romance -> The Garden -> xxxxxxxxx
It is out there somewhere, I can feel it.
Oh, and a gig celebrating that trilogy (in Japan would be nice, but I think I would fly just about anywhere to see that gig).

I would be happy if John and all original Members of Ultravox come together for one or two shows playing the whole Systems of Romance album within some highlight tracks of the first both albums. I cannot see they would make a new album together.I think the later material is too different - cannot see the point they could come to an agreement of the sound. But a concert where they celebrating their early days together - would not be impossible, i think....( and wish).
And yes, a new collaboration album with Louis would be nice.

I would love John to record an album in the style of Systems Of Romance/The Garden/The Golden Section followed by a tour. Electronics alongside acoustic drums, bass and guitar. I'm sure Robin Simon would sprinkle his magic on such a project.

Oh, where to begin.
A full band follow-up to Systems of Romance and The Garden would be good. John, Robin, an actual bass player and drummer, something with a full sound.
A full album with Jori Hulkkonen in the style of the European Splendour EP.
A full album with the Belbury Circle.
Whatever happened to Urban Motets?
