It looks to me like John's misinterpreted the question as "What albums inspired you to form a band?". I'm sure I read elsewhere that his all-time favourite album is "The Pearl" by Budd & Eno, but that's not on the list, nor indeed are any of their albums.

From a 2013 perspective however it seems a curiously uninspiring list. Take Kraftwerk out and if you had to guess the artist who'd picked the albums I'd guess some indie dad rock bore like Paul Weller or Noel Gallagher!

Some surprising choices in there. Like Shadowman some of those albums are on my shelf too.
