My dealer who I know well, suggested I entered on the basis I had a 25 year old bike with ancient Campy Record bits, visible brake cables, and Brookes leather saddle.

I presumably have that similar wear worn look!

I think the bike may suffer less than me though.

They probably meant L'EROICA which is run in Tuscany along "Le STrade Bianche" (gravel strewn roads) for about 30 per cent of the course L'EPICA was started about 8 years ago as the Northern version Both encourage vintage bikes and clothing It's brilliant Refreshment stops every 35k offering copious amounts of food My bike of choice for this is the positively futuristic LEGNANO steel frame (95) RADIO BEACH Will be using my mid 80's BIANCHI Lime green frame as ridden by the legendary FAUSTO COPPI This also has external gear levers and visible cables
Yhis year they-ve banned MTBs

If you are interested Sunday 30 Sept San Nicolo 8k from Piacenza

Yep thats it.

I probably need a lengthy training period to get near to this. I used to do 100-400k Audax rides on my venerable 'Harry Hall' custom built bike.

(Harry Hall was mechanic on the fatal Tom Simpson Tour de France epic on Mt Ventoux back in 1967 before he opened a cycle shop in Manchester, UK).

But nowadays I dont even attempt such distances. Last ride was the Brompton World Championships last month; needless to say I tried for lantern rouge but even failed to get that.

In Pisa in October, but that will miss the ride!

Try this - had one (bottle) last night and was impressed. Doesn't break the bank as much as the regular Ornellaia. Le Serre Nuove dell’Ornellaia

'06 if you can get it!

What time? wink
