Maybe this is one for Garry as he lives so close to the Cargo venue but are there any suggestions for a suitable pub for a pre concert get together? Maybe a good time will be around 5 - 6 ish?
I don't know the area so I can't offer any suggestions.

Hi Peter,
Will look into places and get back to you - there are plenty of trendy bars, and sadly a lack of decent pubs!
Will let you know

Thanks Garry. I think you are the person living closest to the venue. It would be nice if we didn't have to shout above loud music but being early evening I don't think the background music will be too loud. It'll be great to see everyone again for a John Foxx convention Peter

[/b]It's a good thing you didn't suggest knocking a drink back every time he says a word that ends in '-immer' (i.e., glimmer, shimmer, swimmer) because then you'd all be under the table in record time . . .

I'm up for meeting everyone (again in a number of cases) - should be a good couple of days away from work.

With two weeks to go before cargo, has anyone any suggestions for a venue so we can have a pre concert drink?
I guess 5 o'clock would be a good time.

I imagine one will need lots of honey and plenty of money (or is it the other way round?).. not to mention the green pea boat.

Just booked my tickets for this event. According to the cargo website there are still 50-odd tickets left for the gig ?? What a faff it is buying tickets online. No wonder I almost always choose not to!! Register here, register there, and how many terms and conditions? - and then a £2.20 booking fee on each ticket. Turns out that my two tickets would have only cost me 60pence more if I'd waited to pay on the door... Anyways, notwithstanding grimes and whinging, I look forward to meeting someone/everyone at the gig. Better sharpen my pencil...

From the latest Metamatic Update: The show is set to include live performances of "Young Savage" and "The Garden" (two tracks which were played at the recent concerts in Tokyo) If anyone was in two minds about going, I think that should be enough to persuade you to be there. Can't wait!

I saw John there last year and thought the venue was the best place I've seen him perform in the last 11 years (until I discovered Luminaire). Sound is fantastic and the bass is awesome !

If anyone is still intending to go, the website suggested there were still around 25 tickets available on Thursday evening

Performance...I'm afraid, due to costs no doubt, it will always be John and Louis behinds the keyboards...with help from Steve when the need arises. I know what your getting at though, but when I think along similar lines...I just remind myself of the 'lean years'.

Isn't it easier after 6/7 o'clock too?
I know I parked OK for Scala at Kings Cross, and at the Tower when I went to Wiltons

On street parking, generally, is fine on single yellows after 6.30pm near the venue. But be very careful - the street and immediate area around Cargo is a designated residential area and so carries further restrictions which are easier to miss than you'd imagine; I know this because last time John played there, I parked on a single yellow about thirty metres from the venue after 6.30pm (great parking I thought) and came out to find a nice yellow parking offence notice stuck badly to my windscreen and with it, eventually, £50 of my money (actually £100, although authorities think themselves reasonable if I paid within 14 days) that I will never see again.
Further in towards the Liverpool Street Station area and Bishopsgate there are a fair number of designated on street parking bays and spaces that should be free after 6.30pm. Wherever you park, make sure you check all notices and that you're 'legal'.
All the best,
EG

I'll be playing some Foxx on the bus on the way home tonight, and in spirit I'll also be there, 'just for a moment'

To those of you who will be attending the gig tonight, ENJOY! But of course you will. I look forward to the reviews (and pics) that will follow. If I were there at the Owl & Pussycat this evening, I'd buy you all a round. Unfortunately for you (but fortunately for my pocket money!) I will be here in Chicago instead, consoling myself by listening to live recordings of John Foxx and thinking thoughts of, "Some day, somehow, somewhere, this live-performance experience too shall be mine . . ." Oh, and please don't buy up all the stock of Neuro Video and Impossible tonight! I want to be able to order my copies from Townsend instead of having to pay exorbitant prices for them on eBay!

I want to be able to order my copies from Townsend instead of having to pay exorbitant prices for them on eBay! I second that emotion. (Ordinarily I'm bothered by tour exclusive stuff, because virtually no one I'm interested in plays Ottawa. Still, I was kind of disappointed that the only Wire CD for sale at their concert last week that I didn't already have was a live CD I could get from Amazon.ca. Bought it anyway. And boy, what a show that was. It was great to finally see them after nearly 30 years of listening to their music. That's a hint, John.)

Hi all, Just like to say that it was great to meet up with everyone before the show. It's a real shame that Gary couldn't make it. Not very often that you get a group of people together who all know so much about JF, interesting conversations and points all round. Glad Louis decided to gate crash, still surprises me that he is so approachable & sociable. Let's hope there's more opportunities for 2009. Phil B.
