I was browsing through John/Steve's previous blogs yesterday, and came across that exciting list of work-in-progress song titles. I'd forgotten about these!

Some very interesting titles... I wonder if the ones that didn't make it on to Trash or Sideways, will make it on to a future release.....

A Million Cars (From Trash)

NeuroVideo (Sideways)

Pop Object

Running in Traffic (The Hidden Man)

I Know Why

SunGlasses at Night (was this a cover of that dance track that did the rounds a few years back?!)

Crash Course

VapourWear

X-Ray Vision No 2 &24 (no 2 made it to Sideways... I wonder what happened to no 24...)

Labyrinth Generator

Population Control

From Trash (From trash)

Tall Buildings

Repeat Forever

PhoneTap (Sideways)

Reversal

Storm Warning

Use My Voice To Call Them (Sideways)

Friendly Fire (From Trash)

Gone

Penthouse 909 (I wonder if this became "A Room As Big As A City...")

Shadow Memory

The One Who Moves Through You (From Trash with a slight title change)

Out of Control

Working titles can be a strange thing, cant they? Over the years artists have slightly changed titles, or used a title for a song that later became an album title instead. Theres been titles for a track from a future album, that never ends up there but on an album ten years down the line! And all this is so the artists and engineers know which tracks there talking about without any confusion. confused
If im writing anything I either dont name it til im sure, or name it for good.

If John does it like some artists, then it cant always be recognised in some cases. Sometimes titles even stay the same, but are just switched over to different songs!!

Hmm, I can relate to that!!

I often start of by coming up with song ideas, then write* the music around that.

Sometimes the title ends up being more suitable to another piece - which usually are untitled.

*compose randomly, a bit like a happy accident!

* I see you write like me.

Sometimes just one synth sound gives me an idea for a title, Sometimes it 'states' a color instead, usually blue for some reason, then i get a title from that color.

Blue is my default graphic design colour.

Mine seems to be blue for any sound that hums or buzzes, and orange for light melodies like bells etc. confused
