JOHN FOXX DJ/VJ SET IN LIVERPOOL
On May 21 John Foxx is going to be playing a DJ/VJ set with Karborn and Dennis Da Silva at the Static Gallery in Liverpool as part of their Sound City festival. This event follows the Liverpool premiere of the Awaydays movie, which features early Ultravox tracks such as Young Savage and Just For A Moment in the soundtrack. The film is based on a book by Kevin Sampson, who also wrote the script for the movie and was heavily involved in selecting music for the film. 'There are four early Ultravox tracks in Awaydays and I still wanted Hiroshima, Quiet Men and My Sex besides,' he says. 'It'd be absolutely true to say that from the moment I first started realising the filmic version in my head, I could only hear two sounds, two voices... John Foxx's Ultravox and Joy Division. A big part of why it's taken 10 years to make the picture is that I wouldn't sell up to a Sham 69 version of Awaydays... for me, it's always been a film dressed in European Grey.'
