anyone else disappointed in the quality of the Virgin era Videos? He's a liquid suffering most from the poor quality.

I received my copy of Metatronic today and just a few quick thoughts.
It's nice to have a nice quality plastic case instead of a cardboard digipack.

The sleeve design is excellent.

I thought the choice of songs for this compilation was brilliant with a good variety. Good for any new fans getting into Johns music.

The extended version of Underpass isn't that radically different from the original.

Burning Car, can't quite get my head around this version despite playing it at least 4 times. I like the way John sings "Burn" putting a totally different outlook on the song.

Again the DVD tracks covers a variety of era's. After watching it I felt a certain sense of something missing. I'm guessing I'd like all the Virgin Video's officially.

To sum up, good value for money. The extended track Underpass, DVD, SOME of the live in Sydney tracks and Burning Car made it a well worthwhile purchase.

Garry bring your gold pen along to the Roundhouse so you can autograph my copy. Thank you for such interesting sleeve notes. You must feel honoured to have been asked to write the notes. Well done. smile

What other little gems are hiding away??

Oh, is that the 'secret'? I'd forgotten about that!

I was looking forward to the live album, but I'm a tad disappointed by the mix. Like Neuro Video and ANKOM, the vocals seem too low and it's all a little flat.

Garry's sleevenotes are excellent and refreshing.

I like the song choices on the main disc - it feels like a compilation with an artistic purpose, rather than an overview or best of.

The real highlight of the whole thing is Mark Reeder's mix of Underpass and the DVD, which, while short, is excellent quality.

A superb package all round and great value for money.

Like you Peter, I prefer a jewel case to a digipack. Unfortunately mine is shedding its teeth so I think I will want to rehouse the booklet and discs elsewhere. But that's part of the charm - the entropy of the new release already setting in! And yet all these old tracks are new again. The past is always the future. Great sleevenotes, nice to see a sturdy reference to Tiny Colour Movies - 1 down, 14 to go! Makes me wonder what delights might sneak on to Metadelic - Hand Held Skies perhaps?

I was very honoured Peter! It was quite something just to be asked to be honest.
