Dare? Well you just have, so no need to ask the rhetorical question I guess.

As you say, it is a very nice package and good to have them all tidied in a boxed up sort of world way.

Well done to everyone (John, Louis, Rob, Uncle Stevie, et al) for all the work undertaken in being able to get this release completed.

Mine was waiting for me when I got home. Can’t really add anything to what others have said already – as Church Puddle says it’s a really nice package. Here’s the anorak stuff though; the box has a matt finish, and the images run almost like a ribbon right round the box which has no text on it enhancing the minimalist feel of the whole thing.

All the CD wallets have slightly different artwork to the original album design (except Crash & Burn, Cathedral Oceans III), and again no text on the front. All the CDs (except Crash & Burn) are new pressings with the new catalogue number and 2008 publishing/copyright details. The back of sleeve just lists track titles and website details – information has been almost stripped from the entire project leaving the bare minimum possible. They’ve not gone as far as the recent Factory Joy Division vinyl box set (which removed all text, photos and logos from the three official albums).

The art cards are strong, heavy postcard weight with a gloss finish cut to the same size as the CD wallets. There is no text on the back, again enhancing the minimalism throughout.

All in all – a job well done, and my thanks to all involved; Rob, Steve, John, Louis et al. I really like the minimalist feel of it all; reducing it to just music and visuals – a really nice touch.

Now then Rob – where are the other 194 discs?

*cough*

I blame everyone else! Or should that be thank everyone else??
Having negotiated with Mrs B last night, I have now duly received my irresistible copy of Cinemascope laugh

It is WONDERFUL!

Looks great, smells great (I just love that new print freshness) and the minimalist presentation is as effective as others have described.

I can feel an extensive review coming on... cool

Oooh no. The smell of fresh print is one of the things we look forward to in our office.

It's a great time of year for me, as lots of 2009 titles go to print this week and the smell of the proofs fills the room...

I'm with you guys on this—I too love the smell of fresh print, probably even more than I love the smell of stale old library pages. However, some glossy mags have a nasty petroleum smell to them nowadays and I find that very off-putting. Spoils the appreciation! I hope when my "Cinemascope" arrives it hasn't been tainted by its time in the post and smells lovely . . .

A C.O.2 filmed especially for a three disc set would be a better selling point imo then the early Foxx / Gordon albums again. frown
I totally agree with you here Newvox, I buy all Foxx's CDs without question, but i will not be getting this boxset, as it features nothing that i don't already have, apart from a few images, which are probably available on websites. or previous postcards, album art.

I think they missed a trick.

They should have called it the Foxx Boxx!

I didnt think I'd like this box but I just do.

I'm going to hold on to my other versions as well as they have sleeve notes.

Two of the CO images are presented in the original book.

The Underwater Automobiles composition was presented at Coningsby, where (I think) it was entitled 'Swimmer 3'.
This exhibition as a whole was called 'Cinemascope' too.

Ah, the gift of Sound and Vision

laugh ended up getting the box set after all, great little package, although a little disappointed that the Crash +Burn cd is the same as the old pressing, spoils the aesthetic qualities of the set, somewhat.
