I can't believe 10 years have gone by since I picked up copies of Shifting City and Cathedral Oceans at Virgin in Edinburgh...one afternoon in the spring of 1997 or was it summer? My memory is not as hot as that of The Quiet Trees!

I had discovered gold. I had been under the impression that John had retired completely from the music scene except for the odd shot and paragraph in one of the music magazines re Nation 12 back in 1989/1990. Again, such a long time ago that I can't remember.

I was amazed as the discs were published in 1995. I said to myself what have I been missing but then there were no more releases, until 2003 when I started corresponding with Rob(Harris) via this site.

Wasn't on the internet back then so I missed out on all the shows. I need to make it a point in the next year or so, as I would like to meet the maestro.

The best part about John's comeback IMO is that hes not just returned for the sake of it or for the money. You can hear in every album and live show that John and Louis are here for the artistic account. Johns as much part of hes music today as he was from the mid '70s. The honesty as a musician is still there and that why the music is still here too.

John's released more material now since his "comeback" than he ever did in the first place (even counting the 3 Ultravox! albums)

It's been like a second career. A new kind of man emerged in 1997... seemingly happier - more comfortable in his brand new shoes and grey suit, and armed with a fully charged Louis Gordon.

Interesting personnal accounts of how people fist found Shifting City and I loved the way it seemed to change the lives of us "die-hard" fans.

After hearing Retro Future I much prefer a real live album than studio versions. It is so much more lively and the audience gives it a special atmoshere Hopefully John and Louis will continue with real live. Don't get me wrong I still like the Exotour CD

Finally listening. Sounds incredibly good. Wasn't expecting it to. Great job, and the artwork is worth the purchase alone. A recording of a live show in my opinion needs different arrangements, which are very much in evidence here, which probably explains why I don't play "101" much.

I had a look in Sister Ray on Saturday - I can tell you that Retro Future in the shop was £14.99 - I suggest you phone the shop and speak to them before placing any orders!

They also had Crash and Burn for £2.99 and Tiny Colour Movies at £4.99
