Wow, just got back from the first gig. What a cracker! It was fantastic, and John and Louis seemed to really enjoy it too. I haven't seen this duo live, so I didn't know what to expect. In reality, they blew away my previous memories of John Foxx live (from '83) - there was so much energy. The venue size was just right in that respect.

Going again tomorrow - will post something more substantial then!

Hi Rob
Got a bit behind on Metamatic but it is a great idea doing a "blog" I've enjoyed reading it.

Don't worry about your joke Andreas very humourous even if it was unintentional laugh . Just one of those words that have 2 meanings.

Regards

Peter

Yup, it's official - it was a great gig... laugh

And like Solenoid, I'm not going to post a set-list (just yet) as there are bound to be some people coming tonight who weren't able to make it yesterday.

Not a HUGE amount to add to my previous post really - John and Louis ran through pretty much the whole set in the afternoon and finished just before the doors opened at 18:00pm. The gig started an hour later.

John and Louis were on-hand after the show to meet up with some of the fans, and everyone had a great time. laugh

We all grabbed a taxi and headed back to the hotel - and then headed out for another (wonderful) meal. Everyone has been so helpful and pleasant... laugh

I have my guide book with me today - so I can list a couple of the places we've seen on our travels... Hanazono Shrine, Asahi Super Dry Hall (mainly 'cos it's the strangest looking building ever), Shibuya Crossing, Tokyo International Forum and Senso-ji Temple. Ultimately, there's SO much to see in Tokyo, we were only every going to graze the surface - but we've all said that it's a place we'd all individually like to come back to again.

Tonight's our last night (where did that time go?) and so I'll try and post again before we head home. Until then...

Rob

I can't wait to see the setlist. I hope the gigs went well, sold well and I'm sure John and Louis went down a storm. I can imagine his music being so perfect for a city like Tokyo.... and I'm sure this trip will inspire future city-based songs smile

Right. The set, as far as I can remember it.

A song I have never heard before, perhaps Walk this way (?)
A million cars
Dislocation
The man who dies every day
Camera
Uptown/downtown
Underpass
No-one driving
Burning car
Shadow man
...
The garden
Young savage
My sex
Endlessly

If I have missed anything, please could someone fill it in for me?

It was tremendous. A superb couple of evenings that I never ever thought I would experience. A colossal thank you to anyone and everyone involved in making this happen.
