Just wondered who's going to TCM in Leeds next saturday and if anyone fancied meeting up for a drink and chat. Due to the unusual start time of 6pm, I'm not sure if people want to meet up either before or after the gig (or both!); I don't mind either way though perhaps excessive drinking before a visual performance isn't a good idea!

If anyone's interested, post on this thread. I work in Leeds so could suggest appropriate venues and offer directions.....

Hi Steve
I will be arriving in Leeds around 14.30. I may wander up to the town hall and pick my ticket up first.
I'll let you decide where the best place to meet as I don't know Leeds at all.

It'll be nice to see you again.

Does anyone know how long the performance is going to last? I might take the train if it isn't too late. I can't imagine it would last more than an hour or so?

It's supposed to start at 6 but judging by other previous recent concerts it'll be 6.15. I guess the maximum time will be about one hour for the TCM presentation. Then if John follows other TCM concerts it's usually followed by a Q & A session.

According to the festival programme, the performance is 90 minutes long, so finish will probably be around 7.30 - 7.45.

As for a pre-meet venue, there's a new Wetherspoons just opened up just the other side of Millenium Square to the venue; I don't know about anyone else but I find Wetherspoons caters well for all tastes, has plenty of decent beer and is cheap! If others agree; the address is;
The Cuthbert Brodrick
99 Portland Crescent, Leeds.

If you're coming from the station, you actually pass another W'spoons called the Becketts Bank, but the Cuthbert Brodrick is the nearest.

What do others think?

I'll probably see on the day, as I don't know Leeds very well at all having only been twice previously and I don't know what time we're going to get there either!

I am hoping to be at Leeds between 12.00-1.00.

Got to check in at the hotel and get fed!

Then, I'm sure we'll manage to get together somehow. A lot of us have got each other's mobile numbers so I reckon we could somehow meet up! If not, we'll all meet in the venue.

Be a nice evening, I'm sure.. smile

I'm quite happy to meet in the Cuthbert Bordrick as Steve suggested beforehand.

Purely in the interests of research I popped into the Cuthbert Brodrick after work last night. It's one of the more modern Wetherspoons - all concrete and glass - the sort of building that would look good on one of John's album covers and is on two levels with a linking "Stairway". As with most Wetherspoons it gets busy so it would be "Like A Miracle" if you got served straight away.

Anyway, trying to get song titles into this post is making my brain hurt, so I'll just say that I expect to be there round about 4 myself.

AS I've only ever met Alex and Metal Beat off the forum it'll be good to put a few more faces to forum names!
