It's a beautiful re-issue - a thoroughly deserved 'well done' to Paul Ager for the design, to Rob for (what I'm sure was) pointing him in the right direction detail, design and content wise, and to all the others involved in making this now available in such a wonderful package.

The whole package is synonymous with the edition
Deluxe !

Thanks to the design and research team!

yep, I think the design was very nice too.

I noticed it didn't have any "sleevenotes" like the last CD issue, but frankly I thought those were a bit of namedropping blether and I don't really miss them.
Nice to see lyrics for all the bonus tracks too - very thorough.

The only other thing it might have been nice to see would have been reproductions of the sleeve art for Underpass/Burning Car/No-one Driving etc, as some of that was quite striking too - but I already know what it looked like so I'm not complaining ;-)

Metamatic is timeless!
Hi Garry
Metamatic is certainly timeless. It's just as refreshing to listen today as it was 27 years ago.
I'm glad that there was nothing fancy added to the sleevenotes and the artwork stuck closely to the original. Nice to have all the lyrics (I think I know all the songs off by heart by now eek ) included as well.

I think I'll have to dig out my vinyl copy of Metamatic and give it a spin just for comparison to a modern day remastered CD.

Good job done all round.

When i posted on the 17th i thought as it sounded similar to the way Beggars had done the artwork for Numan, that the singles covers (front and back) would have been reproduced too. But as F1 said, no real complaint.

Just a footnote about the packaging..

The internal hinge on my CD case fell off as I opened it for the first time, and I also had to fight the CD holder to get them out.
(Replaced the case with a Wilko's one, and transferred the dodgy "5 tracks" sticker as well. Authenticity, don't y'know..)

I have to agree that apart from the flimsy plastic case, the METAMATIC packaging is spot-on.

P.S. The chances of me actually bothering with the CDs again in the next year or so, are remote. Once ripped, I only play the MP3s.
But I still would NOT buy the tracks only as download.

PERVERSE?

The same was happen for mine too.

I'm not a big fan for the plastic covers...

John should do what he did for the Harold Budd CD'S, C.O. Double pack, Exotour/G.Section CD'S and Drive EP.

It feels a bit like a vinyl cover, I think...- love it!!!
