Apropos of a thread from way back, I think there's probably enough material for a 'Rest Of' album with alternative versions and 12" mixes from 80-85. I would have thought there are some alternative mixes and unreleased tracks from the later stuff as well.

Good point Harold. That's the one thing missing is the 12" versions. With so much going on to do with John the time is right to release these on CD. It would be good to have these as an official release. I live in hope

For me out of all the 12" version of Like A Miracle is outstanding.

The 12" version of Like A Miracle is fantastic. I also like the full length version of Stairway.

IMHO I would include these on the 2CD versions of The Golden Section and In Mysterious Ways where applicable.

That would make sense to release them in their respective re-issues.

Maybe the possible re-issue's of 'Shifting City' etc, would include their extras too, such as 'The Drive EP' for 'Crash And Burn'.

Yeah that's not a bad idea at all. I wonder if the next reissues will all be double CDs... if so, then there'd be room.

Interesting how many of us seem to be thinking the same way. Since listening to 'Retro Future' I have been thinking about putting together my own selection of songs from all John's various incarnations, but choosing more obscure versions - e.g 'Here We Go' live and 'Like A Miracle' (demo) etc - a bit like Adam and The Ants did with 'Antbox' a few years ago. Have had ideas for the artwork running around my head all week and only came on Metamatic today to get inspiration from the discography. But the track suggestions on this thread have added to my thoughts - keep it going. Did have a working title of 'Foxxology' but sounds a bit naff.

I must have missed that one. I wasn't about much in June... too busy getting married and going on holiday!

It will certainly be interesting to see what the final tacklisting will be when they do put together the new best-of.

And then we'll probably all moan about it, and claim our ideas were better!
