Have to do a 'best of ' CD for a friend. not happy with Modern Art so here goes:

i think that "the garden" & / or "europe after the rain" should be on it too !

This is always going to be impossible, but you've had a good shot I reckon.

I'd replace "underwater" with "underwater dream sex" and "sailing on sunshine" with "in a silent way".
Add something from CO - maybe 'oceanic' or 'avenham colonnade'

Then maybe...leave 'mysterios ways' in, erm.. add etc etc

See what I mean?

If you were trying to introduce John's work to others, offering this "best of" CD, what exactly would you include? Really tough challenge.
I wonder if the compilation should be representative of all his work, or whether it should include his 'best' tracks, even if that meant four from one album and none from others?

I'd go for

On second thoughts, I'd burn the whole catalogue to a DVD in mp3 format and tell them to play it on 'shuffle'!!!

Ah, well now I wouldn't put it on my best of! Horror! Yes I know. Just not one of my favourite tracks and for me, not a reflection of John's music overall, being one of his more commercial offerings in days gone by.
