Sunday evening, enjoying my liqour, listening to the beautiful and sometimes quirky, oddball sounds of Yello's The Eye and wondering:
- "are there any Yello fans among the Foxxians"? - "and if so, what are their favourite Yello albums"? - "and do they also enjoy the albums of late years, like I do"? - "and do they also dream of attending a Yello live performance"? - "and, in general, do they agree that humour belongs into (electronic) music"?
Greetings from planet Dada! :p

Very impressive Ivan, very Yello-ish! I'm afraid that Bettie Serveert are no longer among us. Golden Earring are still going strong ... with selling 'Best Of' cd's. But if you want to try some dutch music that is equally arty and poppy, try NITS ! www.nits.nl

If you want a good taster of their songwriting and production skills you best try STELLA. It also got their biggest hit OH YEAH on it. If you want to listen how they blended their Latin fixation with electronics you best try ONE SECOND. It's got BILLY MACKENZIE and SHIRLEY BASSEY on it. If you're in need of a cd to test the quality of your hi-fi set you best try THE EYE. It's SUPERB PRODUCED. Yello = electronics + experimentalism + mystery + humor + ethnical influences + superb production + pop sensibility = one of a kind!

Yes, there are other influential German speaking electronic-based musicians that still make music. So what about the Swiss duo Boris Blank und Dieter Meier? They're here with their 12th studioalbum: TOUCH - The Virtual Concert by YELLOIt's a smooth and velvet fusion of electronics, ethnics and jazz. With the highest production standard as possible nowadays. You can taste some at: www.yello.com Have fun!

Big fan of Yello, but got into them more with their envovement with Billy MacKenzie His superb backing vocal on many tracks and the two main tracks he sang for them.as to the Shirley Bassey song I personaly prefer Billys own try at the vocal, although both put together sounds not to bad. I hear that Boris has more than 2 albums worth of material recorded with Billy but it's just to painful and personal for him to do anything with them....pity because I'd love to hear them, great partnership

There's a Deluxe version of 'Touch' available now. It's got a couple of extra tracks and a few vids on it. Beautifully crafted of course.

Yello are going to play at the Belgium Sinner's festival, not! They canceled it ... ... instead they're spending time for a forthcoming movie and OST

Only just come across this thread now. I'm a huge fan of Yello. It would be hard to pick a favourite out of the albums I have (I have 8 out of the 12) because there are so many different styles on all of them. Stella and Baby I suppose are probably the ones I play most, but I like to make compilation discs of my favourite tracks sometimes so it would be easier to make a list of my favourite tracks rather than albums. Here's a few I can think of off the top of my head. Desire La Habanera Si Senor, The Hairy Grill Pinball Cha Cha Great Mission Blender The Rhythm Divine The Race The Lorry Koladi Ola Bimbo Bananas To The Beat Domingo I read an interview with Dieter once in which he said Boris would often sit for hours on end throwing a tennis ball at a wall and sampling the sound until he got exactly the sound he wanted. Boris really is the king of the samplers! An lest we get carried away in the glory of their electronic wizardry, we should not forget the superb guitar contributions from Chico Hablas, especially on the aforementioned 'Si Senor The Hairy Grill'. Not only is he a great guitarist but he plays guitars that blend in perfectly with Yello's flambouyant style, thus: http://guitarz.blogspot.com/2009/09/1993-auerswald-chico-hablas.html Of course, now I'm going to have to go and play some of their stuff! A superb collection Stringy! There's so many stand-out tracks from the Swiss, I can't choose! I've got all twelve regular albums myself, the first six in the superb remastered editions. I've read that they have a lot of recordings with the late Billy MacKenzie (Associates) on the shelves. But that it's still too painful to do something with them ...

I have a single called "I love you" BW "Rubber West". Excellent! Oh, and "The Race". Not so good. Wasn't aware of the Billy Mackenzie or Bassey stuff.. Althoug I'd have avoided it on principle, due to A: The Race, and B: Shirley Bassey..

The Shirley Bassey track everyone is talking about is 'The Rhythm Divine' and it's surprisingly good, perfect for a voice like hers, and of course the backing vocals are done by Billy McKenzie so that's a bonus. Where else you gonna get a Swiss keyboard player with a Welsh vocalist and Scottish backing vocalist? 'The Race' is one of those tracks you either love or hate. I love it but I know others find it irritating as hell. If I remember rightly, Dieter collects racing cars (real ones, not models!), which explains a lot. Ô¿Ô

Yes, 'The Race' ... I did dislike it too, because it was played so many times in sportshows. But when that was no longer the case, it grew on me. It's still not my favourite Yello song though. It's like when Bowie became a superstar ('Let's Dance'). Everybody thought he was great (and straight). And that was exactly the moment I backed of ...
