If I can pick up the dvd on the cheap I will.
Believe it or not, The Man Who Fell To Earth was quite inexpensive here.

I wonder if the soundtrack is available on cd here?

For me, that has to be the best collaboration track Sylvian ever did!

laugh - yep, agree. Sounds great in the fourth row of the cinema (as hinted at above). When I saw the file with that playing, it was like an invisible man flinging flag stones at my chest, the bass was that powerful. The version on iTunes is just Sylvian (piano) and loses a lot of impact as such.

It would have been better with David's. It is rumoured that there is a recording somewhere on cassette, simply consisting of instrumentals. Low is regarded as David's soundtrack to The Man Who Fell To Earth.

Yeah, a lot of Low would fit very well, and apart from the obvious melancholy running through the tracks, there’s muted feelings of angst, and a dizzy drunken quality to some of the music, which often makes me feel that the voice of the singer is slightly at a distance from the song, like a person almost out of sync with their surroundings.

Correct me if I’m wrong, as I’ve not seen the film since ‘82, but is there a scene with Bowie on a park bench holding an LP, and on the cover it’s called the Visitor? I think this contributed to the 'missing' soundtrack speculation.

This is quite interesting:
