Thanks Phil.

Hello and welcome. My name is Gary Imlach and, with the Giro almost over, I'm here to provide a witty and well-honed opening remark to the final stages before handing over the actual show and the boring job of providing four hours of non-stop commentary on seventeen different types of regional French cheese and sweeping helicopter shots of the elegant French countryside in summer.

Sometimes the comedy just writes itself wink ...

...and sometimes it gets scripted by Dante;

Arf ! I've run out of clichés but I will be back I suppose you know your namesake Imlach's Dad was EFC's coach back in the day (early/mid 70's) Apparently Imlach fils has written a book about Imlach père
I reckon me and you should be given a stab at The Tour commentary Obviously I'd fill in for Liggett as we are phonetically similar whilst you could be a faux Danny Dyer type "Yer don't fack about with Cadel Evans on his manor , one nawty geezer despite that fakkin' girlie voice "
I suppose Membs could have the Duffield role given his love for things bucolic !

laugh It'd make it more interesting!

"Whilst all these geezers in lycra are fackin' abaht on the mahnt-inside - let's talk about ver claret and ver castles innit"

I've been meaning to read Imlach's book for years now - if memory serves me correctly I think it won a few awards too.

Great weekend VAN THE MAN is back !! Second then a win on Zoncolan
The commentator was Phil Liggettesque "Basso finds Heaven on the hell of Zoncolan" (A Vangelis fan to boot ) "A once broken man breaks the unbreakable mountain! "Basso does a Milito , Zoncolan his own private Bernabeu"
3rd place now , looks like you'll be buying me a pint unless The Wigster does something incredible in the last week !
Hope this works

Lucky you didn't get to see Worried About The Boy then - I can really see you in all the make-up and dreads! laugh

Well, not in the Castro sense so much, but quite possibly in the John Carpenter scheme of things - we're waiting for Cameron to fly over now and then we're gonna shoot his plane down and chop off his finger...

...now then - where's my eye-patch and glider? wink

Sorry to report it's not arrived yet! Bah!

Cool - cheers for that!

Sort of followed it (I think)
http://www.gazzetta.it/Speciali/Giroditalia/it/25-05-2010/giro-assegna-corones-604111046665.shtml

But found a place to follow it in the UK here;

http://live.cyclingnews.com/10.html - that does look pretty steep!
