Cheers Ivan!

A great read as always. Looks like you had a great time – I just love the fact that they served wine and cheese at the feeding stations – aw bless! That’s just like le Tour of the 1930s or something – did any of the semi-professionals have walrus moustaches and a large pipe on their boat race? And I really, really wish that such a village as Statto existed! Heh!

Before I go – sad news reaches me today of the Belgian cyclist Frank Vandenbroucke who died yesterday in Senegal at the age of 34. Early reports suggest he suffered a pulmonary embolism.

Glad you liked it Radler , me old China .Come to think of it ,one of the semi pros did have a muzzy ! Sad news indeed about Vandebrouke I wonder what the post portem will reveal Scant consolation ,. but same sort of geographical death as the late great Fausto Coppi (He contracted malaria in Upper Volta (Burkino Faso) after an exhibition race in January 61
Going back to L'Epica , truly wonderful day I hereby beseech you and Frau Radler to give it a go next year .You've got a year to think about it . I know you've had your injury problems , but if the worse came to the worse you could try the flat 30k loop , it would be worth it for the food and wine alone ! I know there are financial considerations to make Let me know how things are going in your next e -mail . At least you get to ride through Statto !

For your delight and delectation

Morning Radler Phased out here Saturday 3 pm kick off !! Marengo half marathon tomorrow I've done the training so went out for a quick 20k in the hills Freezing ! Can't wait for tomorrow afternoon , so I can hit the booze and food again !
Here are some photos from L'Epica if you click on second row first left (Image 2 4of 58) , guess who the handsome swine in the faux Inter Milan jersey is ! actually it's a Portuguese Berg one. Those pesky Mountain bikers had a slight edge on the gravel , but they were left for dead on the uphill and downhill asphalt stretches laugh If you bring you cursor half way up you can go thru the pix Image 6 of 58 are those two semi- pros fixing one of many punctures You're right they both have handlebar muzzies ! Enjoy !

Wotchyer Ivan!

That’s a great picture! I thought they looked like the SuperMario brothers! smile How comes in your picture all the cyclists have the facial expressions of sight-seeing Victorian day-trippers casually breezing up and down the new beach of Brighton on their penny-farthings whilst you look like you’re trying to catch up with Coppi! laugh Go Ivan! Go Ivan! Go Ivan! laugh

Don’t think either of us are looking forward to tonight’s game - mind you, I forgot to point out: I know people who know people who know people who know people…that hang around freezing cold Tottenham training pitches to bring you Toffees exclusive confidential footage of tonight’s strategy;

You're right tho , it was a killer on those gravel sections
Thanks for clip .Great footage of Messieurs Barker and Beckinsale . Don Revie gets a mention Have you seen/read "The Damned United " ? (I've read it , good stuff )

Btw I think we'd stand more chance if it was a boxing match ! Football wise no way José !
Anyway only a mere 4 hours seperate us from The Clash of the Titans "dahn't Lern " You going per chance ? To paraphrase dull as dishwater Yorkshire band Embrace The Good (or the least crap at least) will out smile

“Ill be coming round to yours to burst your inner tubes!” hahahahaha! Brilliant! laugh

I read the book when it came out (I really like David Peace….although his Tokyo trilogy is already ‘doing my ‘ead in’) – refuse to see the film as it’s clearly nothing like the book. Talking of David Peace – get someone to get you the Red Riding Trilogy this xmas – stunning adaptation earlier this year by Channel 4/Film Four (not sure which)

I dunno Ivan – you’ve got a good chance tonight (I’ll be ‘dahn ver pub’ to watch it). We’re seriously stuffed squad-wise and we’ve got one eye on the Woolwich Wanderers this weekend, which, quite frankly, is much, much more important than this Carling Cup malarkey.
