Looks quite good, picture quality improved over the Replica's dvd...no artifacts and compression issues as far as i could see (I thought the Telekon dvd was also good).
Soundwise I have no complaints as well.
Guess they improved the songs here and there as well since nobody seems to record and burn directly to dvd.
They also added some 'bonus' footage which has Gary talking about the recording and the visuals they used on the tour.
Also included is a small interview with Chris Payne, nice one.
It's not a bad buy in my opinion...7 out of 10 smile

cheerios,
fons
That was my worry, I got the Replicas Live DVD and the quality was shocking so good to hear that PP is much better. Agree with you on the Telekon DVD absolutely superb.

Thanks for the feedback fons.

After spending most of yesterday listening to Garys music I've decided to go for it & replace my old vinyl & some of his post Berserker albums. The problem I'm having is what are official albums? I've looked at his "discography" on the internet & what's available online to buy & some of the albums aren't listed in the lists I have on the net or books eg Dark Wonders & Rumour to name but 2. Where is the best place to look for a list of his official releases?

This is not an official release that I'm aware of.

I'm afraid that it is an official release, and it's catalogue number is BEGA 153 CD.

There were three others double-disc sets in this series: Tubeway Army / Dance (BEGA 151 CD), Replicas / The Plan (BEGA 152 CD) and Telekon / I, Assassin (BEGA 154 CD). I believe that they were all released in 1998.

They're a 'step up' from the 'two albums on one CD' editions that attempted to marry up the same albums back in 1987.

I've got almost all of those - when I first discovered Numan in 1995, the Beggar's Banquet double-album releases were all you could get. They were issued following "The Best of Gary Numan" double CD in 1993.

Berserker, The Fury, Strange Charm, Machine & Soul and Sacrifice were all reissued as part of the Numa Years box set in 1998, followed by repackaged versions of the albums. The following year, Machine & Soul, Skin Mechanic Live and Outland were all reissued.

A few years after that, his pre-Berserker albums were finally released as single CD issues, replacing the '93 Beggars double albums.

Ignore the compilations - during harder times, Numan allowed everyone and their dog access to the stuff on the Numa label, so lots of unofficial compilations with awful artwork hit the shops.

Agree with you Alex.

There are only two comps that are worth purchasing i.m.o.
They are: Exposure and Mutate

What makes it difficult is his enormous variety in style and quality of his work.
But the 'final' remasters and luxury editions ('Replicas' and 'The Pleasure Principle') are the ones to have!

At least Exposure was an official release and was worth getting for the 12" version of Music for Chameleons and the new version of Everyday I Die.
