I'm no great fan of AOR/Middle of the road but KAREN CARPENTER was truly amazing
I'll put her THe MCGarrigle siisters Sarah Cracknell and Joan Armatrading in my own personal 5 a side team with Monserrat Caballé(sp?) on the subs bench
What say you fellow Foxxheads ?

I'm with you on Karen Carpenter.

Kate Bush
Alison Moyet
Elizabeth Fraser
Alison Goldfrapp

I've always been quite picky about female vocalists.

My favourites are:

Tori Amos
Kate Bush
Paula Cole
Alison Goldfrapp

Strangely enough, those 4 all have connections to Peter Gabriel. Who is not a woman.

Oh, Tori Amos - yes, she is excellent!

Sort of a feisty Kate Bush character, who can't sit at her piano very long before she feels the need to girate her hips! Fantastic! wink

And Paula Cole, I thought she sounded great on Gabriels Secret World Tour.

Dame Judy of Garland
Edith Piaf
Juliette Greco

and Kate Bush. cool

Good topic.
I've always found the Foxxworld a very male-oriented place.
There are too few female fans. Hi Sarah - :p

Is it the detachment of suburban adolescents, or what?

Mostly I prefer women singers and there are only a handful of male voices I like. What about the idea of, maybe, Lisa Gerrard duetting with John on something??
I have a few CDs of 'ancient' medieval music etc for female solo/choir, and some of that suits the CO material perfectly

Hi!

Yes, I don't understand why there is a distinct lack of female fans.

I guess it's no secret that not only have I loved John's work for years, but I think that he's one hell of a handsome chappy! The full package!! eek

I hope that all these male fans will give myself and my Spectral Response partner Tessa a chance to go to the front of the stage at the gig!

BTW, I also forgot to mention Annie Lennox. I've just listened to "You have placed a chill in my heart". Such power and emotion in her voice. Amazing.

Just you guys wait until you have heard me sing! I'll be top of your favourites list! (NOT) wink

Best wishes
