Has this ever been mentioned before?...apparently this particular release features an edited version of Underpass at 2.41, even though label states running time of 3.21.

Yes, it's been mentioned before…

The most noticeable difference is that the second verse ("Well I used to remember…") and the accompanying chorus is missing.

This edit is available on a compilation CD called "The Best of Synth Gold (Extended Mixes)" (ironic as it's actually an edited version!) that can be found on eBay and elsewhere quite easily.

My recollection is that when Underpass was first played on Radio 1, it was usually the edited version that was played. I certainly remember being surprised one day to hear the 'normal' version that had the 'Well I used to remember' 2nd verse.
