Ta for the programme title, if only the Beeb would wise up, theres a golden opportunity in the ratings there!

Okay, Ivan's mince pies have gone cold, MemberD has seemingly passed out from too much sherry smile and the rest of the forum are trapped in town by the last-minute xmas shopping crowds so I'm editing this post from 14 hours ago in order to hasten the answer to the mystery song, I honestly didn't set out to be obscure and any reply wide of the mark generate's more clues!

Google a fictional Alan Partridge radio show and you find 'Drive Time' (Fat Turd is pretty good too for Alan Partridge!), look closely at Arwen Undomeil in the flesh and you get Peter Jacksons LOTR's actress Liv Tyler, who is in fact Liv 'Rundgren' Tyler, and from there you will get that particular multi-skilled producer who guided 'The' (four's) letter word 70's rock band in their attempt at a concept album inspired by a television addicted idiot savant (Being There), the new wave style mystery song is on that album, and as for XFactor music guru Gary Barlow..?

Shame on me Cores I'm a bit of a Toddhead too (no googling required thus far) Good lady's birthday today so we've been 24 hour Party People since yesterday evening and I've had no time to dedicate to solving the mystery (The Scooby Doo team have ripped up my application to be a detective) Btw I've a bone to pick with you my Caledonian pal My mind has been awash with crap American bands , mainly of the "Pomp" genre STYX JOURNEY KANSAS TOTO Etc while trying to solve this ! You'll be hearing from my lawyer !
I'm throwing in the towel and you Cores
CARRY ON MY WAYWARD SON !! All the best for Crimbo We are off to to hills for 3 days without any computer access

ADDENDUM Again without googling Just reread Was the band called The Nazz ? Back in a bit
ADDENDUM 2 I've failed to "See the light in his eyes " Hail Hail Core Memory The board's Andy Murray ! Unbeatable on his day !

The band is The Tubes the song is Prime Time, which has always stuck in my mind as I recall seeing this on TOTPs in the same period as one of Roxy Music's fab singles from their Manifesto album (either: Trash, Dance Away, or Angel Eyes). A 'bad male hairstyle and a chanteuse’s headgear to the fore', "if you want a dream come true" you need one singer with a mullet, and another with style…' the two particular singers are Mr Fee Waybill and Miss Re'styles'. The album is Remote Control - a concept album about television addiction celebrity culture etc, it was panned by the critics, produced by Tod Rundgren who thought he was the father of the beautiful Liv (Tyler) she who plays the role of pointy eared Half-Elven Arwen Undomiel in the Lord Of The Rings trilogy of films (Rundgren put his name to the birth certificate, but her biological father is actually Aerosmith's lead singer Steve Tyler). As for the four-letter word that relates to the bands name and which describes music genius and talent spotter Gary Barlow for me, well, avoiding slander lets just leave it as being Drive Time's fictional Alan Partridge character is a 'star', and Gary Barlow is not smile

Even further shame on me ! apart from being into Todd . one of my favourite albums is WHAST DO YOU WANT FROM LIVE ? Whenm Radio Beach came over for the bike race I introduced him to the delights of DON'T TOUCH ME THERE and one of my favourite anthemic songs of all time alongside Skynrd's "Free Bird " WHITE PUNKS ON DOPE
What sidetracked me is that I'm not into Hollywood and the crap it turns out . I pride myself on not having seen one single second of "LOTR" Liv Aerosmith famous for being a pretty face and the scandal surrounding her parentage rather than for any acting talent she might have . I wouldn't be surprised if she became Liv Barlow at some stage
Here are The Tubes at their best

Dead easy this one From the lyrics one might summise that the singer had been an employee of Creation records and frequented Liverpool off licences It's all about fruity headgear !

OUT Advantage Basso !!
Excellent shout all the same . tThank you Taken back two decades there I was in a quandry as I loved both the Manics and T'Mondays , even if they hated and despised each other

I don't want this one dragging out Think of the boss of Creation Records , add the Scouse word for Off Licence (other than "offy") Yet again . cross the Atlantic and seek out the sex midget
