I recently came across this superb picture, and couldn't resist sharing it under this title.

Marmora's Warbler

I have fond memories of seeing the UK's first record of this species in South Yorkshire 1982.
This is probably only the second seriously twitchable record of this amazing little bird.

It sings on the wing - as this photo demonstrates.

Utterly beautiful. shocked

Cute photo. I last year found Finland's first Otus scops (scops owl), and it was so hideous that only a fistful of the 1200 twitchers saw it - they only heard it. So here's a photo of the place instead:
Scopscape
The owl is in the spruces on the left cool

It was a thirty years project that ended on - possibly the first time in the history of birding - a rarity observation reported as a pop song. The whole story:

That is a totally unique project in my experience.

I'm stunned and amazed. Feels like something I have been wanting to find all my life.
Thank you so much for sharing it

It was quite a surprise to me, as I have never been a serious twitcher.

So, here are songs of Sylvia sarda (marmora's warbler):

My favourite singer is Turdus philomelos (song thrush - even though nowadays my cellphone & doorbell ring scops owl grin ):

Other opinions of the best songbird? It would be nice to hear forum members' favourites, were you birder or not. Xeno-Canto is a great source for listening to birds of Earth - and also nice "raw data soundbank" to sampling musicians (if you don't want to stroll in great outdoors).
