Just posted on facebook...

David Sylvian
It is with great sadness that we announce that David Sylvian will be unable to undertake the scheduled tour in March and April 2012.

David has sustained a lower back injury that is causing him significant pain and affecting his mobility to such a degree that, at this time, he will be unable to perform.

We are hoping that with medical care his condition will improve siginificantly, and that we'll be able to reschedule the tour at a later date. We're doing all that we can to bring this unanticipated setback to a positive conclusion.

David will be writing a personal note that we will post online shortly.

In the meantime, should any of you wish to return your tickets for a refund, please contact the venues / agencies from whom you purchased your tickets. They're currently being made aware of the situation.

..............................................................

To say I'm gutted would be a huge understatement.

Wow, that's bad news. I hesitated/agonised about getting a ticket on release for this, wonder how long it'll be before he recovers fully.

Get well soon Dave!

I was due to see him at the Nottigham date and was hoping to go to the RAH date too. To say I'm gutted too is also an understatement, I hope he recovers soon.

Oh dear. Was also in some doubt as to whether to get a ticket or not. Shame, hope he gets better soon.

Blimey! No, not seen that before!

Shame they've had to use a very old photo - surely if Dave is happy to licence stuff to EMI these days (post-Virgin stuff, Billy Sweet Pilgrim album) he can lend them a new photo?

Wish there was a bonus disc - ah well. So I guess this was supposed to coincide with the now cancelled/rescheduled(?) Implausible Beauty tour.

Also...erm...where's the actual track A Victim of Stars?

Yes, that's the one - I wonder why it's not on there?

Mind you, Zazou's album had some copyright issues regarding samples and the initial release was deleted and subsequent editions had a different tracklist. Perhaps EMI thought such things financially restrictive.

And another thing, Alphabet Angel, I Surrender and Darkest Dreaming are all from DBOAC which has never been remastered. That goes for the majority of non-album and collaborative tracks too - Jean The Birdman, Bamboo Music etc. I'll be interested to hear if these are new masters. I can't imagine they are if EMIs recent Japan / Sylvian catalogue handling is anything to go by...
