Louis' new CD was on sale (for £8 I think) at the Luminaire gigs, though they were home-made copies (and the last track was missing off the one I bought!). It's called "EST".
Track listing:
1 Electric Shock Treatment 9.12
2 Crash That Car 4.02
3 Purple Dancer 6.58
4 This Air 8.16
5 Joe Killer 5.13
6 Dance With Me 5.52
7 Theme from It's All Gone Pear-Shaped 12.31
(8 No Name)
I listened to it on the drive back to Birmingham and I was blown away. I wouldn't go so far as to say they're perfect, but the first 28 minutes are a f...ing brilliant listening experience!
Some artists who sprang to mind: 1. ELO, Wire; 2. Lemon Jelly, Laurie Anderson; and the "Scottish" riff in track 3 is familiar from somewhere.
Track 1 builds beautifully (Louis does a good impression of the Crash Test Dummies!). On track 2 Louis plays a robot and a girl.
"This Air" is just a fantastic pop song.
The rest is good but a slight anticlimax after what went before. 5 is loud. 6 is a version of 3. 7 isn't a new track - it's a long chillout perfect (I imagine!) for tripping.
Go buy!
Love, Adrian
