This means that all six Ultravox albums, which were originally released between 1980 and 1986 ( Vienna , Rage in Eden , Quartet , Monument , Lament and U-VOX ), have now had the double disc Definitive Remastered Edition treatment.

Looking forward to the U-Vox release. I was at the Glasgow Barrowlands gig & those tracks will bring back fond memories.

What with all the excitement regarding the forthcoming Foxx releases and the new offering from Sylvian, I'd almost forgotten about the re-issue of Lament and The Pink Thing - has anyone got these yet?

I'll be getting Lament but just wanted to know what peoples thoughts were on these re-issues.

I have the new Lament which all sounds nice & groovy & cleaned up.

The 2nd disc contains some unreleased work in progress mixes that sound more like instrumentals unlike the ones on Vienna & RIE which sounded more like work in progress.

Still nice to have them though.

There are 4 extra tracks which I've also downloaded from Amazon.

Love's Great Adventure extended
White China Live @ Hammersmith (was b-side of above I think)
Man of two worlds instrumental
Heart of the Country (special remix)

I notice the biggest improvement in sound quality on LGA which really kicks you in the face when it starts.

Overall a very nice package & well worth having.

As for the Pink thing I've not bothered.

Well done to Cerise Rob & all for the work thats gone into them.

I bought all the remastered Midge/vox albums and have to say they are well made. The bonus discs give you a good insight to their work; and the most of it was completely new to me 'cause I bought their stuff for the first time on CD.
The best ones are Vienna followed by Rage in Eden to me. Quartet is OK too but I like more the darker first two albums. Monument is a good live document but The DVD is a bit too short .
U-vox have it's high and low moments - the 5th place to me and against the most coments I read about this album, I find All Fall Down is one of the best tracks on it.

But Lament isn't my cup of tea - not for the original album - 'cause the bonus disc is not my taste. I find it hard to listen to these special remixes - what had they done with Midge Ure's voice? Sorry but I think I will not often listen to that disc, 'cause I hate these kind of mixes.

Some live tracks would work better on this disc. OK tastes are different...

All in all this definitive edition series are a nice thing, Ultravox and John Foxx and I want to say thank you to all who were involved in these re-releases!! wink

I've bought all of these remasters including
U-VOX. Well I am a completist!

I don't mind some of the songs on this album but I think All Fall Down would have been fine on Midge's next solo album but not on an Ultravox album. As for the extras, the three b-sides are decent enough. The track '3' is especially good. Some of the live tracks have been previously available on 12"s etc but there are another four live tracks previously unreleased. There's also a work in progress version of All In One Day.

Lament is fine if you don't mind all the special remixes on the second disc.

Hi Brian, Andreas and Andy - many thanks for the heads up!

The local HMV has sold out of Lament but, strangely enough, they still have all their copies of U-Vox - what are the chances? laugh

I've only bought three of the reissues so far (Vienna, Rage in Eden, and Quartet) and I'm quite happy with all of them. Think I'll pass on Monument and U-VOX, but I have to remember to order Lament one of these days.

Now, if someone could do a good double CD like the Ultravox and Foxx reissues for the first two Visage albums...

I have to agree with you there Steve. We have waited too long for decent reissues of the Visage albums with their accompanying b-sides and remixes.
