lol Louis went particularly barmy @ the ICA during "20th Century", he started whilring his head round and round in a tight circle like Grover the muppet from Sesame Street.

Up da Gordon! lol

....and in fact even Foxxy was pretty lively during that one.

Not to be too pedantic - but it was '21st Century' this time round; with a lot of happy smiles.

I would hate to see Louis calming down and standing still. A gig would be so dull. It's part and parcel of who he is. I just find it so entertaining watching him and his enthuiasm for what he does.

I remember on last years tour in the sweltering heat the sweat was pouring off of him.

Keep bouncing up and down Louis.

Another entertaining aspect of Louis-on-stage is that he gets so carried away he keeps forgetting to do things and then lunging at them to catch up.
Although this confuses me even more, cos the audio always seems to keep going, sometimes making it look like what he is forgetting to do is mime his bits! laugh

Seriously though, I always see him grasping at some control on the top left end of his top keyboard when there's a bit werbling high synth..... does that mean the synth line itself is sequenced, and Louis is just whammying it with his mod wheel? Or wot? (cos he doesn't actually seem to be *playing* the synth line on his keyboard)

Louis does play some synth lead, because I was watching him on Saturday. Obviously, there is a fair old element of backing and sequencing going on, but there is definitely some live play going on there - mod wheel included!

well I know he plays *some* stuff - for example he was "giving it loads" in the coda of Underpants.

But conversely, in "Burning Car", in the "Burning Car-ar! Nrr-nr, Nr-nrr" bit, I repeatedly watched him lunge for his keyboard trying to get there in time for the "Nr-nrrs", and not quite making it, yet the "nr-nrrs" still came out of the PA! Or sthg.

But whatever was going on, it was certainly entertaining!

Not sure whether this is the right thread for another comment on Saturday's performance, but I think Feline's observations are quite interesting because I didn't notice any of this as I have technically no ear for right and wrong music-speke whatsoever.
Makes you think...

I did wonder about the role of The Third Man though and maybe F1 can help with this. John and Louis didn't even come on stage during Glimmer (a significant disappointment for yours truly), and then they appeared for Mr No etc... BUT I noticed Man 3 disappeared and it seemed (at least to my untrained ear) that his absence made no difference to the sound??

I also thought that "Bur-ner-ner - ninggg Car" was almost painfully quiet?

Yeah I dunno what Mr D'Agostino was up to most of the time!
He did initially seem to be playing electronic trigger pads in PLAZA, but I think most of the time he was just taking care of the backing track and making sure it was playing back properly off (laptop? or whatever other multitrack device they were using?)
I dunno if he actually played any synth parts with his fingers, I couldn't see!

Certainly, GLIMMER - yeah, delicious piece of music, but I think we were merely hearing it play from the master tape, it wasn't being "played live" - and I wasn't at all sure what was going on in "Mr No" either...

Like you Martin I was wondering what was going on during Glimmer. It did seem very strange that John and Louis wasn't on stage. Also I'm the same as you Martin I've no technical knowledge of how a concert comes alive.

I'm learning by reading posts of more technically minded people like Feline1 and others.

Regardless of the technical side I still enjoyed the concert.
Also I thought the lighting was good along with the effect that the dry ice gave.
