OK, since we're on the topic, here's some info on the original Japanese film. It was called The Human Vapor in the dubbed English version.

I recall seeing this film on local TV as a kid. A few of the scenes showed gas/steam coming out of the sleeves and a collapsed suit laying about afterwards. When I saw John's artwork, the first thing I thought of was this film!

Interestingly, the protagonist's name is Mizuno. Mizu is Japanese for water.

Well, that image is John's own. I recall, from an interview, that he photographed his own suit. He also mentioned he saw a still from the Japanese movie and liked the idea.

John's actually made a few songs with titles taken from films (Twilight's Last Gleaming) and paintings (Europe after The Rain). I just came across one that had Lonely Hunter as part of its title.

That was hilarious; K and I enjoyed watching that clip in sync just now.

I think the guy said something like "I was at the show last night and promised you a beer, so here it is"

That's the one I was thinking of then, which of course lead the inspiration for a song called "He's A Liquid"
