Hi all,
'Bout time I posted in this section. I've been a fan of John Foxx and Ultravox (old and new) for many years. I remember hearing "Quiet Men" at my sisters house and being blown away by it. Burning Car came along and I was hooked.
I even cycled 16 miles to see John Foxx play live at a warm up gig in Hitchin back in 1983. I saw him two more times during that tour, once at the Dominion, and then again (final night) at the Lyceum. Really great memories!
I left the UK before John started touring again, but I am so pleased that he is coming to my new home here in Japan next month. I'll be there on the Monday night (previous engagement prevents me being there both nights!). The location is very small, so it will definitely be up close and personal. I sometimes shop in the supermarket above and you can actually hear the music from there as well (useful if you can't get hold of tickets?
).
I think John is a fantastic wordsmith, and I believe taht he should be identified as one of the great poets of our times. Not many people paint pictures with words (or just gets the mind moving to utilise deeper parts of our imagination) as well as he does!
Looking forward to contributing here.
All the best!
