This is the one track where I can genuinely say that I equally love both the original release and the earlier/alternative version out of the 2 remasters that I’ve listened to so far, (unlike the instances of complete swapping that I’ve done with other tracks and their earlier version).

For me TGS ’83 Twilight has a romantic warmth, and I imagine a bright narrow band of light very low on the horizon as blackness starts to bear down from above. It doesn’t necessarily make me feel cold, it's more like wearing a warm coat outside on a November night.
With the CD2 08 Twilight I feel like I’m in another place altogether, like a haze has obscured the sun, bringing a sudden and unearthly chill to the otherwise warm day.

before you posted I'd been having a lot of thought about possible path's of evolution and the nature of IMW, and of course an obvious element has been revealed on that remaster, and TGS remaster itself can't attempt to hide it's muse either.
I'm not a musician myself, but as regard's the 'arts', the point where one's source of inspiration remains merely as a template can be debatable, but imitation is a common and honest starting point, the goal though is to infuse whatever spark's the imagination and attempt to move it forward as much as you can.

Well said. For some artists it's very difficult to reach that point of forward movement (and some never seem to reach it at all!). I don't mind it if a talented artist pauses on his path for the occasional quick glance back over the shoulder to acknowledge or pay tribute to what he's moving away from, just so long as the pause is brief and he keeps moving . . .

Ive been listening more to 'Twilights Last Gleaming' on headphones, and i think there may even be female vocals in the chorus. Its very quiet in the mix, and im not even sure if 'shes' singing the lyric or just harmonising with the instrumentation.

I received the three new remasters yesterday and went straight to disc two on TGS, always my favourite JF album, having seen the original tour in 1983 in Tokyo.

I have two problems with these remasters though...

1. Why do Edsel CDs always have creased booklets? Look at the spine of each booklet, about halfway down they are creased, all three. The same applied to Metamatic last year. This really spoils them and makes them look used when they are new.

2. There is a SERIOUS glitch in the last track on disc two of TGS, Endlessly (Extended Mix). The track jumps and stutters, skips around and then dies. I looked at the disc, no marks at all... tried it on 3 different players, same result. I then tried to put it into iTunes and it wouldn't read past 2:34 when it's a 6 minute plus track... Anyone else encounter this? If this is a production flaw, Edsel need to replace these discs.

Also not a problem but some production credits on the extra tracks would have been nice...

There is at least one other with this 'glitch'.

And another glitchy "Endlessly" here in Ottawa. Amazon.co.uk is sending a replacement copy; I hope that one's okay.

Steve, I hate to say this but I doubt it. It seems like the master is at fault. That means Edsel have to go back and fix it, then issue new discs, which makes things quite tricky as when that happens no-one knows which is a faulty version without playing it. I'd say all out at the shops now are faulty. The same thing happened with Eno's Another Green World remaster a few years back.

I'm sure Robin can get some clarification from Edsel when he sees this.

By the way, is your booklet creased?

All three (four if you inc Metamatic) are fine for me.
