OOo -er

Well I love it!! eek There's lots of jagged edges, twists and new elements that give the original song a whole new direction, depth and meaning. Yes, to reach a new and different audience whose contemporary tastes are vastly different from ours...

I think its great that John's work grows and changes with time, retaining only the barest essential ingredients of the original pieces, and is now being held in high regard by young DJs and music-makers for its inspirational quality. Its this element of legacy in John's output that will live on beyond us all and ensure the longevity of his name and influence.

Different strokes for different folks I guess.

In my opinion  there hasn't been a remix yet that I don't like (some are stronger than others) and I much prefer to hear these rather than 'previously unreleased' versions of the same material that don't really move anything forward

Have to admit that when I heard 30 seconds of it quite a while ago I really wasn't too bothered either way, but having listened to the whole of it again recently I really do enjoy it now with the video:

Its far enough removed from the original for me to like it as a re-imagining in itself, and much as ‘Freak Like Me’ is pretty catchy, at least this doesn’t have the SugarBabes singing all over it laugh

Surprised but pleased that some of you on here do actually like it.

To be honest it's probably because the original 'Burning Car' is one of my favourite tracks of all time that I dislike the remix so much.

If I'm wrong please tell me you like it but I can't see how any of us are going to be into this.
For what it's worth, I've been a fan since I picked up a copy of No One Driving/Glimmer back in 1980, and I like the new mixes. They have a definite dubstep influence, and I like a lot of that stuff. I think the mixes do a good job of combining that classic Foxx sound with a more current electronic sound.

Me too, regarding the original, but I think this remix must have passed the 'Old Grey Whistle Test' for me, after my post this morning I had to go out, later on the way home I found myself quite happily playing it over in my head as I was walking along the old railway path smile

I'm trying not to be too cynical about this - I appreciate art appeals to different people on different levels and can be dependent on many things; an individuals own tastes, historical association with a time place or persons, deeper personal connections, etc. I'm left bemused that the two pieces associated with John Foxx are three times the price of everything else offered.

cool
I think you'll find that the price reflects the fact that these images are in an edition of only 5 (Burning Car) or 3(20th Century)!
I am sure that if John Foxx had released any of his work in such small numbers, some of you would be willing to part with a greater amount of money to own a copy!
