That's correct...

If everything goes to plan (!) then Shifting City should be re-released later this year - but, as you can see, this year has already developed into being quite a busy one. wink

Thanks Rob cool

Too bad it didn't make it last year as it was the album's 10th anniversary!

How time flies. I remember picking up a copy in HMV and looking through the tracklisting - back then I only knew of John's 'Vox work. I should have bought it there and then! Luckily a few years later I got my copy from Voiceprint.

I guess we'll see how this year pans out - John is really the international quiet man at the moment!

And if it isn't this year, then it'll be early next year. Again, it just depends what else happens in the meantime... wink

Like everything else, and with the busiest programme at the moment, we really need to be patient etc about this.

We know how superb these re-mastered editions can be (Metamatic) and they are well worth waiting for. It would be such a shame to rush anything and the result be anything less than perfect.
Already there seems to be enough material 'in the pipeline' to cover the next five years cool

I hope it dont take that long, one could die of old age or become a girls allowed fan in that time. Id prefer all the Foxx and Foxx/Gordon reissues to be released as soon as possible, but i agree it still should not be rushed.
The sooner all reissues are done, i feel the new material ahead can take its own place better.

I'd favour new material over reissues any day.

But John's CDs do need to get back on the shelves - plus an album like Shifting City has probably got quite a waiting list now, as it seems it's something of a rarity.

I'm a little confused by this. My copy says 1995. Everyone seems to say 1997. I'm certain I bought it in '97 too (I should probably trawl through old threads but I'm lazy and there's no search facility here).

I think it was published/recorded/etc in 1995 but not released until 1997... Rob??

There is a search facility - at the top of every page in The Forum.

Correct - as it says in the discography , it was released on the 24th of March, 1997. The tracks were published in 1995. What can I say except that it had a long gestation... wink

It's a great few paragraphs of information there, relating to the background/recording of Shifting City.

It's a shame there isn't any similar sort of information for TPOE - I've always wanted to know more about the making of this album and the inspiration behind some of the songs.

It's been fascinating me for 7 years now wink
