This is purely an anal muso question...
But prompted by the metamatic reissue and reading about how "electronic" it is - I've always loved the bass guitar parts on it actually! and I was wondering:
is there some Hohner clavinet on it too?
(an instrument more commonly associated with the Stevie Wonders of this world, I know ;-)
It's just that I'm pretty sure I can hear John getting jiggy with a clavinet on the the subsequent "Miles Away" single....
....and owning a clavinet myself and having my ears just pricked up, I began to think I could hear some on Metamatic too -
I think the most obviously one is on "Touch and Go", where there's some very "snaggerty" raspy sounds doing a riffy/bassline thing that doesn't really sound like a synth to me...
however it could just be a minimoog or sthg that's really EQ'd and phased/flanged/wibbled and compressed to bits, I suppose.
Any other pedantic gits out there care to offer an opinion...?
I think it's unlikely John will be playing any clavinet at the Metamatic gigs though
