Has anyone seen this yet?

Fantastic live performance reminiscent of 'Walk Away', although that's some 'SERIOUS MOONLIGHT' dancing! No wonder he stands behind a keyboard these days! wink

My guess is that this is from the Spanish TV broadcast?

Classic piece - I managed to catch him twice on this tour.
Funnily enough, I used to wear exactly the same clothing as John s on stage...

I've always had less hair tho :p

Hi

Yes, this is from the Spanish gig. I've got several tracks from this on DVD. Sorry, but it's definitely a 'phwoarrgh' from me when he gets on that synth. shocked Oh yes, I've played it times smile

I love it to bits!

Seems so dated now, but always good to watch again. And this song contains that memorable line:

"The child is father to the man" he says

from the poem by Gerard Manley Hopkins (1918)

Since becoming a father myself, I've always found this to be almost painfully true.
Our children are our best teachers - we can learn so much from them.
There's a Hidden Man in all of us - sometimes he takes the form of our son, and at other times he is our grandfather.
With the personality of everyone from Jesus to Hitler…

Thanks Garry for posting the link. It was nice to see this again. Doesn't John look young with a nice head of hair.

The line that I like is "Change my name and change my clothes". Sometimes that's how I feel.

Wise words Martin. Having a daughter at 32 taught me a different way of life and she kept The Man Hidden in me and helped me stay young at heart.

I've always thought this one of the best songs on The Golden Section. Wouldn't have been out of place on The Garden. I saw him perform this at the Royal Court in Liverpool in '83.Fantastic !

The opening line to The Hidden Man, 'I want to stay where the summer goes' is one of my favourites of any song. In its surreal way it sums up a yearning desire of my own. As I think of the disparity between this summer and last year's though, 'I want to stay where the summer WENT' is regrettably more apt.

Was there at the Royal Court in '83 as well. Absolutely fantastic night. My first ever gig too. I was blown away by it. Even mentioned it to John once on one occasion. Even he remembered that night as a particularly good night. smile

As for the track 'The Hidden Man', one of John's greatest ever pieces of music and lyrics -and thats saying something with his catalogue. Can you imagine Louis getting his teeth into that synth solo nowadays? wink cool

That synth playing is amazing-so expressive.I must admit that The Hidden Man was not a track I played very frequently but this has put it in a new light. Thanks for the link.Would love to see more from this concert-I must scour YouTube more often!
