I recently read an interview with Billy Currie in Beatmag (well worth a read very frank answers)and there was a suggestion that John and Billy may work together again. Has anything come to light yet? Anyone heard anything about it?
I know both John and Billy have worked with Robin Simon in recent years maybe getting Warren and Chris on board wouldn't be a bad thing. I know post John Ultravox were quit popular but they had a lot of internal problems, But I still think early Ultravox had more depth. So anyone know whats in the pipeline.

Maybe john would work with billy seperately but when asked on janice long about a full ultravox reformation the answer was no. Something which pleased me as ive never been into reunions.

I agree with you Robert, on the reunions thing. They're usually a cash-in.

The Police didn't need to re-form (and break their own vow to never do so). As much as I would love to see them, I suspect ticket prices and availability will be limited. To be honest I haven't read much about it, but why do they need to reform? OK, Sting's last 3 albums haven't been very good or successful, Andy Summers is now in mis mid 60s and needs a pension, and Stewart Copeland, is probably bored of earning little as a session musician!

But as long as a band can re-create their former glory, then I'm not totally against reunions, but generally, they're often past their best and it's more a need for income. Look at Genesis. I am SO glad Peter Gabriel didn't want to join them.

When a band are at their peak, or when artists collaborate, then yes, the results are often great and in some cases highly innovative. But like any working relationship, there comes a time when it's run it's course, and there's no point in tryinig to go back and recreate old glories.

Of course, my ranting point doesn't cover everything, and I'm not even referring to John and Billy. But for example a producer - if an artist has done a great, successful album previously with a particular producer and several years later, they agree to work together again, that's fine, and 9 times out of 10 it works. Look at Bowie with Visconti or Nile Rodgers.

I think with musicians it's often a different story. There can be a lot of conflict or disagreement - put any bunch of creative types in a room, and they'll argue, all wanting their idea to be the one. That's the way we are! ;-)

But I think when people stop working together, it's usually for a reason. If it was for a personal or conflictual reason, then they will always be hesitant to step back into the ring, as it were.

I think Morrissey said, referring to The Smiths, the only way they'd all be in the same room again would be to shoot them and drag the bodies in.

I would say good luck to anyone who wants to reform but usually it just doesn't look good. Or sound good.

usually it's sadly like that , but in the cases of - only for example ;-) - o.m.d. & the police it's indeed wonderful news to have them back again ... & true to form as well - yeah ! :-)

a reformed Ultravox would be good for gigging. I would find that a thoroughly entertaining evening. If viewed as light nostalgia, a bit like the Police are doing.
For recording, however, the moment has passed a long time ago. Getting a group together in a studio isn't a good idea. In fact it's a recipe for disaster. Collaboration between individuals, however, could possibly work if they both are able to click artistically.

I wonder if B.E.F. would ever contemplate a 3rd album,John would do great on a couple of tracks(now THERE is another thread waiting to be started, what song would you like to here John Foxx cover?)
I hope to get to meet Ian Craig Marsh and Martin Ware at the up-coming Billy MacKenzie tribute night in Londons Shep Bush on the 28th so I might put it to them then(although I cannot guarentee my sobrity!! smile )
