I have been in possession of Tiny colour movies for a while now, but I have yet to play it.I feel that I am indeed savouring it and from time to time I afford it a glance, sitting there juxtaposed with my collection of cd's. If it is indeed akin to Metamatic then I will undoubtedly be mesmerised by said cd.Before I do play the cd will anybody convey their initial feelings when having listened to it??? Thanks

I'm not going to give anything away by saying that my first experience of Tiny Colour Movies was a huge smile.

At last, I thought, this is the John Foxx album I have been waiting for....

Personally I don't see it as akin to Metamatic. Since it's an instrumental album, I find it hard to compare the two.

However, what I will say is...

...Expect the unexpected!
And read the booklet as you play the album.

It's also very good "night music"... there's something very architectural about it. It reminds me of travelling around Paris at night, all the light and colours, and looking up at the mix of buildings, ranging from classic to ultra-modern.

(The Pleasures of Electricity works to the same effect for me too!)

TCM is a great album to listen to whilst travelling; walking, on the tube/bus etc - maybe because 'Looped Los Angeles' reminds me of Kraftwerk's 'Autobahn' and other aspects of TCM remind me of'E2-E4' by Manuel Göttsching – two other great albums to listen to on the move.

I like this album a lot, very good to listen to late at night.
I really would love to see some of the actual films, as the notes on the cd booklet make them sound very intriguing!

There's a review of TCM here, alongside one of the few I've seen describing Live From A Room.

The strange thing about 'Tiny Color Movies', when I first got it, I didn't have time to sit down and play it, but I read the sleeve notes, and ended up thinking it was a fabulous album without even hearing a note! Of course hearing it didn't change my opinion, but those sleeve notes are so good, I feel they add a lot to the appreciation of the album.
