[b] kraftwerk - computer world
In terms of innovation and genius, I would have nominated Autobahn rather than Computer World. To me, Computer World was the refinement of their years of experimenting and is, even by Kraftwerk standards, a bit 'sterile' in my opinion, too polished and precise. Autobahn, on the other hand, combined their home-made electronics with recorded sounds of car engines and horns which, for 1975, was something few people, if any, had previously done. At least it still had some rough edges.

maybe, but to me computer world is PERFECT. for the more rough & experimental masterpiece i'd say radio-activity.

Personal taste obviously does come into the equation; you prefer Computer World, I prefer Autobahn, but bearing in mind that the criteria here were 'innovation' and 'genius' I still don't think there's a lot that was innovative or even particularly clever about Computer World at the time of its release. As I said though, it's about personal taste and personal opinions.

Don't get me wrong, I do like Computer World but I just don't think it holds up to Metamatic in terms of innovation and genius the way Autobahn, in my opinion, does.

Although my favourite Kraftwerk album is 'Radioactivity',. I have to agree with Stringy about 'Autobahn' being Kraftwerk at their most innovative.

Or is my favourite 'Kraftwerk 1' hmmm.... confused

Well, my favourite Kraftwerk album is Trans Europe Express.

I'd say that was as innovative as Metamatic.

Maybe All Kraftwerk album were as innovative as Metamatic...?

It is my favourite too, and for me much more innovative than Metamatic (which is perhaps saying something). I have heard it said that from that one album you get just about everything that subsequently developed in the electronic/dance/techno fields.

Associates: Sulk

I remember a french TV popmag.
It existed in the late seventies and early eighties.
The era my musical taste was formed.
It showed Roxy Music ('Manifesto'), John's Underpass, early Ballet and Duran etcetera.
But I can still remember the first time I heard and saw the Associates doing 'Party Fears Two'. What a song! What an energy! So modern! And that voice ... (my first thought was: "Bowie eat your heart out"!). cool
