Good to see a report from Adelaide, as it was probably the least promoted of the shows.

A setlist (not in order) is an interesting touch...

Just got back from John Foxx concert at the metro In Sydney.
Tiny little movies a bit of a **** to be honest.

John Foxx live was just amazing, refreshing, floating on air, surrealistic. You name it it was that and better. Just a briilant concert. Louis and John played fantastically and the sound was awesome.
About 500 or so FANS at the concert and everone had a great night.

Thank you John and Louis as it was one of the special nights of my life!!

Even got John and Louis to sign the latest CD's.

Even muso's like Tomm Ellard from severed heads was there paying homage.

I am sure John would have been happy to see how the tour ended up, especially since it was his first concert tour of Australia.

Yes indeedy. THREE tracks from TPOE? eek That's quite a surprise.
I think this could be the first time John and Louis have ever done that song live?

I have heard OF two more interviews in Melbourne, but it would great to know if theses actually happened and where, if at all, one can find links to them?

Interview with 'Gus' for Studio 5 Live feature on PBS - 8 May

Interview with Steve Wide on 3RRR - 9 May

Can any of our Australian friends confirm these?

I've always felt TPOE has been rather sadly overlooked when it comes to concerts, so it's great to see John's still passionate about it! smile

Yep. It was great! Nice and LOUD! Even the floor was tremoring.

I think it was closer to low 200s. I did a quick count of seats and there looked to be 300. A lot were empty during TCM and, of course, a lot of people got up and moved to the front later.

Its certainly something I'd waited over 30 years for and it was well worth the wait.

Unfortunately, they only did one track from TPOE at the Sydney concert.

The opening tracks were -
  • Crash and Burn
  • Drive
  • Camera

Camera was great though. He did change part of the lyrics slightly, however.

The tracks he played from his Ultravox era were -
  • The Man Who Dies Every Day
  • Hiroshima Mon Amour
  • My Sex (the new, double version)

His only romantic period song was Endlessly which he closed the concert with.

The rest were a mix of new and old classics. In total, they played for an hour and a half (roughly).

Here's the 3RRR web site. They do podcasts so it might show up.

The only new thing on PBS is this .

After a good night's sleep, I'm finally back home after having flown from one end of the country to the other and the 3-hour flight to Sydney and back within 24 hours.

However, there was no way I was going to miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and it was absolutely worth evey minute.

Here's the setlist for ...
John Foxx & Louis Gordon (+ John Foxx: Tiny Colour Movies)
Live at the Metro Theatre, Sydney, Australia - Saturday, 10th May 2008.

1. Crash And Burn
2. Drive
3. Camera
4. Uptown/Downtown
5. The Man Who Dies Everyday
6. Hiroshima Mon Amour
7. No-One Driving
8. Underpass
9. From Trash
10. Shadow Man

Encore (after a great deal of encouragement from the 'mosh pit'! wink ):
11. Burning Car
12. My Sex
13. Endlessly

I've made a complete arse of myself with my camera, but here're three blurry photos anyway:

John performing Tiny Colour Movies. It was a real treat to see (and hear) this, having only seen the images contained within the CD booklet. It's evident just how passionate John is about this on-going project going by the talk he gave on it and the questions and answers session afterwards.

John & Louis rocking the house with some "electronic mayhem".

John Foxx & Louis Gordon, "The Human Blur", as John refers to him as.

The attendance was pretty good ... about 150-175, although 160 was closer to the actual figure, but it was enough to make the theatre look reasonably full. The sound was tremendous, and although the material is familiar from the previously released live CDs, it was fantastic to finally get to experience it first-hand.

I'd like to offer my sincerest thanks and endless gratitude to Chris Curran for the 'VIP Pass' treatment he gave me and for making my night extra special. Thanks, mate! You're a legend! It was great to meet and have a few beers with yourself, Chris 2 and the team. My autographed copy of the A New Kind Of Man CD is truly unique, as is the special 'fan photo' I've got, which I will certainly cherish. I got about three hours sleep before heading back to the airport. I hope you blokes managed to get up and away on time!

Cheers! smile
