As mentioned elsewhere, I was listening to Bauhaus recently and I reckon their versions of Telegram Sam and Ziggy Stardust give the originals a run for their money. They don't cut it on their cover of Third Uncle however - Eno's original can't be beaten but they do a good job trying.

I prefer Ryan Adams' Wonderwall. Mind you I'm biased.

Nearly forgot this one; these Sheffield funsters had a bit of a penchant for the odd cover version and here's the one that finally got them on TOTP (but not much further) . .GG's original was a rather meandering part 1 / part 2 affair but the mighty League shook it up and turned it into something new...

Simply stunning, and includes Billy Currie doing one of the greatest (the greatest?) synth solos ever

Hopefully this'll get a DVD release someday

Very rare for Dame David to get outshone , but the wee lassie from Glasgow * takes him to extra time on this one and sneaks a win with the fifth and deciding penalty

*Not Claire Grogan !

I've never been sure if OMD's version of Waiting for the Man * is good or bad or better or what. But I always just loved playing it loud from my student residence room to annoy the *hippy* next door!

(*sorry couldn't find the full version for the uninitiated..)

Ha!Ha!Ha! I'm a massive fan of VU - so I had the same dilemma for years! Just grin a lot when you play the OMD version - works for me! laugh
