Hi there,

Just seen this advertised through the Barbican news mailer - I know some of you are interested in Scott Walker, and this might be a great opportunity to view a selection of his work in a unique setting.

Drifting and Tilting - The songs of Scott Walker, performance at the Barbican, November 2008

You'd best act quick - checking ticket availability, tickets for one of the three performances have all but sold out.

All the best,

EG

Thanks EG,

If it was Scott himself - well I can dream can't I?

Dot Allison is a great singer...I'm just not sure I want to hear Damon Albarn murdering anything by Walker!

Agreed. But even then I cannot imagine hearing these songs in anything but darkness and silence. Applause and EXIT signs and coughing etc - all distractions.

Yes, Scott Walker is best heard in an underground situation. Something dark and smokey ...

Yes, I feel the same really.

If Scott Walker himself was performing, then I would have queued around the block for tickets, but I don't really want to pay that sort of money to watch a bunch of his celebrity fans doing a sort of Walker karaoke!

He'll probably never do a concert in his life again, as apparently and famously, he never listens to any of his material once it's released, so he'd have to do some serious catching up on his back catalogue to be able to sing live – if only.

To my mind he has one of the best voices in modern music and the fact that he doesn't shy away from being very experimental when he wants to makes him a true artist in the truest sense of the word.

Did anyone go to this concert and if so, what did you think?

Just wondering if anyone went to this and how it came across?
