Long time forthcoming are the re-releases on CD of Blancmange's three albums. Happy Families, Mange Tout and Believe You Me. These are finally being re-released on 1 September 2008.

These come with bonus tracks selected from their 7" and 12" singles. Missing from these albums are Sad Day (original version), I Would and Running Thin. Perhaps there'll be a compilation which will include these tracks.

Blancmange were a synth-pop duo who crafted their sound by intelligent use of the Linn Drum and the Roland Jupiter 8 amongst other exotic instrumentation. Neil Arthur and Stephen Luscombe gave us a smile with their cheeky lyrics and charming tunes. Their version of Abba's The Day Before You Came is memorable and their oriental sounding singles Living on the Ceiling and Don't Tell Me amongst their best. One could say that Happy Families is their masterpiece.

It's taken a long time this I contacted Cherry Red back in 2000 for them to re-release these albums but back then London Music wouldn't part with the copyrights and were happy just to pick off the royalties for the endless compilations that included Living on the Ceiling.

Hopefully some new stuff will follow and fingers crossed they may even do some live dates.
