Ah, so not so much school's out as not in school yet. I wonder if they grew up playing that track? Originally posted by Atom Man: So what's the significance of learning German?
I brought some mixtapes over one afternoon and they included a lot of German stuff on them. I was a huge DAF fan at the time, and Al was just starting to discover harder electronics. Someone in the used record store had teased him for mispronouncing the name of the band "die Partei" so he wanted to save himself further embarrassment. Those merciless Teutonic beats eventually changed Ministry's musical direction, but the way Al tells his history now, that was his intended sound all along. Interesting.

For a period from 1991 to 1993, whenever I went to few gigs, I noticed Bruce Gilbert from Wire standing next to me in the men's room. After awhile we both noticed and smiled at each other at the comedy of it.
Sat next to Jason Robards on a ferry from Wales to Ireland. Made some funny faces at him, which is sat and stared back.

I'd be more interested in knowing what you were doing hanging around in mens' rooms for two years! Sat next to Jason Robards on a ferry from Wales to Ireland. Made some funny faces at him, which is sat and stared back.
Were you trying to psych him out or something?

Were you trying to psych him out or something? Drank too many pints in those days; therefore, a frequent bathroom visitor. I suspect Mr. Gilbert was going through the same phase. Funny, that in different gig locations that one would meet the same person, especially in the loo. It was good for a laugh. Strange on Robards. He seemed upset that no-one noticed him or were asking for an autograph. If he wanted adoration, why go looking for it on a ferry? Anyway, it just felt right, so why not? Blue P

I figured that was the case but the way you said it ... Strange on Robards. He seemed upset that no-one noticed him or were asking for an autograph. If he wanted adoration, why go looking for it on a ferry? Anyway, it just felt right, so why not?
You could have really freaked him out by saying "Hey, did anyone ever tell you you look like that B-grade actor Jason Robards?"!

I was also a regular visitor to Probe in Liverpool and the second hand records shop around the corner. I was often served by Pete Burns and various members of Frankie Goes To Hollywood worked or hung out in there. I also saw Andy McCluskey (OMD) on a fairly regular basic. I was working in Victoria Street in those days. Although I moved away my parents are still in Liverpool and my mum of all people had a minor run in recently with Ian McCulloch (Echo & the Bunnymen). I will not go into all the details suffice to say Ian ended up buying my mother a drink to smooth the waters! cheers, Ian

This is like "This Is Your Life". Born in Walton hospital brought up and lived in Bootle L20. Everton is in my blood thanks to my dad and grandad and uncles, brothers etc. I miss the days of standing on the terraces on a cold wet November evening, watching the likes of Mike Lyons, and Bob Latchford. Well, when I say miss, I miss that time in my life. The only thing I remember Mike Lyons winning was team superstars but that is a fairly vague memory. I'm a bit behind on the age front 44. Moved to the Midlands for work in 82 but first saw John Foxx in 1983. At the Royal Court in Liverpool (came home for that one) and at Warwick Art Centre. I met John after that show. I was the only one who stayed so we had a long chat, I got various bits signed and a lift part of the way home with John and the band!! Several of my friends were into John Foxx and when Metamatic came out it blew us all away. Still a great album I'm sure you'll all agree That's enough wittering for now. Cheers, Ian

Cool! It's these tiny colour references that fill in some of the archive. This is the first time I've realised the spelling of this band, so thanks very much. I do believe that Wayne Hussey (SoM, The Mission) was with them as well?
