It has definitely that Manchester touch to the song. More (early) New Order than Joy Division.
There's one part of the song which is somewhat out of context. There's a piano part, perhaps with the intention of capturing the tranquility of an ocean, doesn't flow with this upbeat version. I was thinking more of using some synth strings or a synth melody line instead. For example, New Order (and Joy Division)used the ARP Omni 2 to great effect. I don't own this synth so I don't know how well this machine has aged through the years and how well it would cope with modern production techniques and technology. Anyhow, I notice that there are some synth strings that come to the fore at the end of the mix. Perhaps this could be used/remixed for that part of the track.
