I have cross eyes, especially when I mix beer with John Foxx light shows.

Well, as most of you already know, I love making music with my synths! It's been fantastic since collaborating with Tessa for our Spectral Response Audio/Visual work, and the support from you guys has been tremendous! Thanks.

I also (although I have not produced anything for a few years) I love drawing. Not landscapes, but people. Faces fascinate me. I love eyes, they can be so captivating, and although I just sketched with pencil/graphite which has no colour, I love the way that you can make the intensity of a person's eyes stand out. Mmm, might have to give it a whirl again..

Anyone want to be a model? wink

In addition to being a complete birding anorak (well, since coming to South Africa, my knowledge of British birds is woefully inadequate), I make strange noises with guitars and computers that I sometimes describe as music (usually after too many glasses of Fat *******), thus:

http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=36705

And when teh mood takes me, I write a bit of nonsense verse, just for my own amusement, thus:

The Walrus, The Sea, The Porcupine And Me

Becalmed upon The Sea of Mouldy Turpentine
I fell asleep and soon began to snore;
I was wakened by a walrus and a porcupine
who'd won the lottery the day before.
I asked them if they'd lend me two pound fifty nine
but they offered me just two pound fifty four
so I sailed into the sunset on my barquentine
knowing that they would not offer more.
I ended up in Hyde Park on The Serpentine
on Wednesday at twenty five to four;
my boat was sinking but I leapt off just in time
and made my way, bedraggled, to the shore.
Some may think that my sorry tale is assinine
while others may just think I am a bore
and even people I consider friends of mine
just tell me to get lost then slam the door!

Would have been cooler with the vehicles from UFO and Space 1999.
I doubt though if we’d ever see a celebration of Gerry’s shows with Terrahawks, or god forbid Space Precinct.

Its bizarre to think that the genius of our childhood that was Mr Anderson became so very out of touch about the quality of his latter shows, as evidenced by Space Precinct. He was so confident about this show getting him into the big time he suggested it had the potential to transfer to the cinema and become a movie franchise in the same vein as J. Michael Straczynski’s Babylon Five :p also proposed to do at that time. Oh yeah, I remember those sy-fy blockbuster movies well..?
and now I’m starting to sound like a nerd

Thanks CM, not one of my best nonsense poems, not even sure if that one made it into The Book of Daves and Other Nonsense, but I had to choose one quickly because I was being hassled by the two women in my life (Mariana and her daughter) to do other stuff (like finish off cooking the dinner, sort out a problem with the daughter's friend's laptop etc. etc.) As James Belushi once said "Women! You can't live with them, you can't blow their heads off."

Here's one of my better ones:

Dave The Waterproof Elephant.

A host of golden dandelions
dance around my head;
a tiger and a randy lion
snooze beneath my bed.
In the door and out once more,
up the tree and down;
the elephants are waterproof
yet still they sometimes drown.
The scuba diving wildebeest,
in purple swimming pants,
was crushed to death one day last week
by drowning elephants.

Bob, in understanding of the demands on our time preventing us from answering the call of our muse, and as we all know how big a fan of Rap Music that you are (not) here's my freestyle just for you and all other frustrated creatives out there laugh :

"Yeah bro's, ah no dat feelin,
when ther's too much hassle-ment on U enviro-ment,
an U’s gonna blow a fuse if U don’t get to your Lady Muse.

Shes a lay-dee a way-tin, got creative juicy-juices flowin,
but U hangin inda house of hope, where U are goin postal,
an your sorry ass aint off da hook, till U and she get jiggy in cerebral wiggy-wiggy"

wink

Hope that helps.

Ah'm luvvin' it!!!

Great stuff, both of you.
I can't write jibberish nonsense, but I always admire it in others.
Thanks for sharing

Twaddle is instead my line
Like heady wine
With hints of this, and that
And the smoked wings of virginal fairies
And drips of purple ice
It's nice indeed to think of
and savour subtleties
O'er drinks of flavoured tea
And see how others deal
with cards and words
And matters of chance
or happenstance
When they lack both
Nets and umbrellas

...??

What do you mean you can't write nonsense? That's really good, I wish I had written it!

"And the smoked wings of virginal fairies" What a great line! Sounds like an advert for one of those really yuppie flavours of crisps.

Incidentally, Gibberish is one of the four languages I speak fluently, the other three being English, Scottish and Rubbish. :p
